Of course I could have put this in a tech forum, but then I wouldnt have been able to let the GD light shine!!
Ive got numerous AR15's, SCAR's and a lonely AK74. So, Ive been thinking about adding a 47 to the mix. I have zero ammunition, magazines or parts on hand for one, so I would be starting fresh. Would it see as much use as some of my other rifle? Probably not. Do I care? Not really. I like the 74 that Ive got, but probably only shoot 100 or so rounds through it a year. So I cant say that a 47 would get much more use than that. The 74 is a Century (yeah, yeah) that I got a good deal on a few years back and have had zero reliability issue with it in the 7 or 800 rounds that Ive put through it. Do I find an Arsenal, or other decent manufactured brand, or go with something else? Im drinking Blue Moon tonight, and am having trouble thinking for myself. Thanks for the help. |

Well IMO, they are over priced right now, but I don't see the price coming down. It's a fun weapon, and the libs absolutely HATE them, so, yes, go ahead and get you an AK.

Seems like the definition of the wod "need", has changed in my lifetime.
No, you don't "need" an AK47, you already have stuff just as good. Now, if you "want" an AK47, that is another matter. Really, only you can make that decision. |
By all means yes, no collection is complete without one. I shoot mine almost every weekend, there's no other center fire that you can shoot as cheap except the 74 you already have.
I have more guns than I have time to shoot already. Any time I think about getting another AK, I look in my safe and shoot something else.

Do you really own "numerous" SCARs? Wow. Well, they come in so many flavors!! 16,17...black, tan. They make it so hard to decide. |

There's an SLR107 at a shop near you for a decent price.
Go get it. |
I really like them.
I know this is a AR site, but.... My AR is collecting dust and the AK goes to the range. |

If you can find a good deal on one, then go for it. I agree. |

Get an AMD-65 from Buds last time I checked they were $450. With the brake its loud, has awesome fireballs and not much recoil making it lots of fun to shoot.

No.
You should get MORE than 1. Edit: Holy shit, can't believe I made it in before some retard said "no, you need a trash can HURR DURR.". |

Take it from someone who can't own one...
Yes, you should get one.
Yes, and it'll share ammo with the SKS you should also already have.
Yes, yes you should. I love my AK. I like my AR, but I love my AK......

Yup, that's the one I got when they were 499.00 |

I got a WASR 10/63, 'cause there's nothing like having a gun that you can beat the shit out of and not feel bad about it.
When I was first confronted by this question, my first response was, "I need an AK like I need another hole in my head."
I am sooooooooo glad I didn't listen. |

That depends. Are you neglecting to give your trash cans attention? I can think of far cheaper ways to feed my garbage cans than buying AK47s.

Nah, buy more ammo for the '74 and shoot the balls off of it. |
I sold all mine and bought 2 AR-15s................now I am beginning to wonder if I need a 47 or a VZ-58............

Another biased vote for the AK. SAR-1s are a nice example of an AK.
