I've spent the entire evening rinsing and drying a whole lot of $20's and $100's that were flooded in a bank safety deposit box (no, they're not mine, they're my grandma's).

For the most part, they're in good shape... but one really stands out.  It's a series 1986 $100 bill that has turned BLUE (or purple).  Now, the envelopes that the bills were divided up in have some blueish ink on the inside of them, but none of the other bills were affected.  On top of that, it does not have that "strip" embedded in it.  I thought that perhaps that wasn't added until the next revision of the bill, but I have a series 1990 $100 that looks just like it (except that it's not blue), and it DOES have the strip.

So, is it safe to assume this blue bill is a fake?
