Why not?

Some people still live in caves. Nature's pre-fab housing.
Link Posted: 6/11/2009 6:40:58 PM EST
caves and caveman bones were put there by god to test our faith.
Link Posted: 6/11/2009 6:41:29 PM EST
Sure. Not all Christians have a faith contained in a book.

Yes.

There are accounts of people living in caves in the Bible, after all...

I'm gonna have to call IBTL on it, though.

I'd say most probably do.

although this is meant (I think to be insulting) I believe in the premise
If I were God, I'd make it as hard as possible to believe in me so that only the deserving would see the Kingdom of Heaven.

I have a friend who when in grade school (Evangelical school) went on a class trip to the Smithsonian and in the natural history area passed up the Dinosaur exibit b/c "oh we know those did not exist". He does not buy their religious BS though.

I'm saying nope.

that was sarcasm not an insult, you need to get your dowsing rod re-calibrated. <–– now that's insulting. //Insults are for demonstration purposes only.

Sure, why not? There are cavemen even today.

No, those commercials are fucking stupid.
Link Posted: 6/11/2009 6:55:40 PM EST
what if cave men were the early stages of gods design of "humans"? I dont see why it is so sacriligeous to believe in dinosaurs and cavemen.
Link Posted: 6/11/2009 6:55:50 PM EST
Two that I know don't, in fact they are both in agreement that that the earth is only 6 or 7 thousand years old

Not believing in the existence of "cavemen" (primitive hominids) is just like:

  • Believing that the world is flat.

  • Believing that the Earth does not orbit the Sun.

I think it is safe to say that most mainstream Christians have moved out of the dark ages when it comes to scientific understanding.

As for the evolution vs. creation argument that might be the bigger issue at hand, what is wrong with the idea of God having created evolution ?

Perhaps we could think of God as a computer programmer of sorts, and evolution could be a collection of scripts He wrote so He wouldn't have to manually perform tasks all the time.

if there are people today still in caves then i bet they sure don't look to much like the cavemen of the past. facial structure, ect... for a christian to believe in that i would think means that they believe in the evolution from prime apes of the homosapian

Geico.

First, you can't lump all christians into a single group.

Second, just because the Bible is silent on them does not mean they did not exist. Perhaps it just means they were not important.

Or that the men who wrote various parts of the Bible were individually unaware of the existence of primitive hominids ?
Link Posted: 6/11/2009 7:04:37 PM EST
Here's my dilemma.

You got Adam and Eve right?

They hooked up and begat Cain and Abel who grew up and did plenty of begating on their own before that unfortunate incident with the slaying and all.

Where did their wives come from?

Are we all a bunch of incestuous inbreeds?

Archaic humans from about 100,000 years ago on are pretty much anatomically identical to modern humans. They did occupy caves in Europe and the Middle East right up until some 12,000 years ago.
Link Posted: 6/11/2009 7:05:55 PM EST
I do. I never once believed the earth is 4000 years old. Don't think you can stereotype all of us.
Link Posted: 6/11/2009 7:09:43 PM EST
Somebody had to paint those things at Lascaux. Not very likely that they were cave cats or cave albatrosses.

Although cave elephants could have done it!

This. I don't think god cares if we beleive there were dinosaurs, cavemen, or how old the earth is. The bible is basically what is important. If it isn't in the Bible, it isn't really vital to your faith. Or god would have mentioned it.
The only people who tend to care about the silly stuff are usually 1% of hard core Christians who don't live in reality, and the god haters who like to bait them.

I believe Christianity and evolutionism are one and the same. We just have a problem interpretting it. Instead of cavemen (I guess you're talking about Cro-Magnums and Neanderthals), if you want to go further and ask if anyone (including me) believes that Austrailopithicus Africanus existed some 2-3 million years ago, my answer is yes, and I still believe in the Christian God.

If you mean this.

Some do, some don't.

I am Catholic and I believe in creationism through evolution.

Christianity isn't any more monolithic than Islam.

I believe in cavemen. Just look at the middle-east.

As for the ancient cavemen, the pre modern human ones, I personally don't, but I'm sure a lot of Christians do.

Sure, first there was Adam and Eve, and a talking snake and a forbidden fruit, then they devolved into cavemen etc.. and then there was modern man. No seriously, the earth isn't that old anyway.

Sure. To many people have a closed mind when it comes to science and religion. God is as real as dinosaur bones. The bible tells many stories about how crazy we make God and how we constantly get his message wrong and try to interperate him in our way instead of his. Why should our history and specifics of creation be any different?
Link Posted: 6/11/2009 7:19:53 PM EST
The earth is only 6,000 years old. The fossils were created and placed here by God. The fossils were not once living creatures.

Genesis 1. How did God create night and day BEFORE He created the Sun?
