My lady is thinking about applying for the Sheriffs office dispatch position.  She knows someone who might have an inroad for her.   Looking for opinions from people with experience in this area.  Is this typically a good job?  Would you want your SO involved in it.  Thanks.

maybe its just me but i dont understand this sentance...

as far as the job...

It can be stressfull taking calls and not being able to be there physically to help. They deal with deaths over phones and just random stuf that you wont even think of.
Most of the time its just civies wanting to play cops!
"i think they are smoking pot come arrest them"

I could never do it.   The good dispatchers are worth their weight in gold.   It helps when they have half a clue what we deal with on the street.   They can help us out more.    There generally is a high turn over rate from what I see.   I'm on the street and don't know what happens in the bunker.   I just hear it

Dispatching can be fun and stressful.  I started out as a dispatcher.  She just needs to be prepared to work weekends, holidays, different shifts, and deal with some of the most bizare stuff out there.

It can also be bad hearing your SO get into the mix and knowing how long it will take a cover unti to get there.

If you're not in the business (or at least not in the area / same radio channel), the biggest disadvantages are the "passive" stress of the job, and the schedule wreaking havoc with your social and family interactions.
