In the Peoples' Republik of Kali-fornia, a log of that chewing tobacco at the local Wall-Mart in Duarte, Calif(10 miles east of L.A.) cost around $40, over half of that is taxes, thanks to Rob Reiner(aka Meathead in the TV show All in the Family).

Gave it up when I came back from Gulf1. The wife asked me stop and I did.
Damn glad I did too. I see a few guys that still do it. Their gums look like shit.

Timberwolf is only 1.75 here
Link Posted: 3/11/2005 2:09:38 PM EDT
When I first started dipping it was .89 for a can of Copenhagen. Now it's what, $5, $6?

I ordered my stuff from Indian reservations for a while before I ended up quitting. The organic smokes were really good, and averaged about a buck a pack. Really good deal. I think they were called Natives. I used to order ten cartons at a time and keep them in the fridge.

Sometimes, one of my buddies would ask if they could bum a smoke and I'd give them a whole pack. It's only a buck, you know? No big deal. Now it's like $5 a pack and it's a quarter for a three-minute smoke, and I'm going to want another one in twenty minutes. Waste of money.

Skoal mint. Under $4, don't remember exactly how much it is.
Link Posted: 3/12/2005 12:02:05 AM EDT
Skoal mint, I can find them in the 2 pack at china-mart for about $7.

I gave up the marlboros back in november and think I might have to give this up also. Only thing I dont like is the urge to choke out stupid humans (liberals and other scum) while cravin a chew
Link Posted: 3/12/2005 12:04:36 AM EDT
skoal!!
Link Posted: 3/12/2005 12:19:50 AM EDT
last time I bought cigarettes it was 50 cents a pack. i went into Mobil to buy a pack for a friend of mine and they told me 3.89 or something like that. i was like HOLY SHIT that is expensive!!

the guy behind the counter said "Then quit!" I told him I never started. this is for a friend. When I got home I gave her the pack and said "If you quit, just think how much faster you could move out and find your own place"

Ooooh that one hurt.

Isnt there a mint type non tobacco chew to take place of the normal stuff.... I think it is for those that are quitting. calibrate me if I am wrong please.

Last time I smoked I was in the front leaning rest. =/
Link Posted: 3/12/2005 2:12:10 AM EDT
Back in the 80's dip was like .69 a can or 5.50 a roll. How did it get more expensive than cigarettes?
Link Posted: 3/12/2005 2:34:29 AM EDT
Beats me. I was still in grade school in the '80s!

the ONLY thing i have ever puked off of was non-tobacco mint 'chew.' to this fucking day if i'm sick and need to puke, i think about that nasty shit

Yes there is. If you are trying to quit, use this "Mint Snuf" in combination with the nicorette gum(not at the same time!), and you will kick the habit in the couple of weeks. Far easier than the cold turkey approach.

skoal is 5.75 a can here.
Link Posted: 3/12/2005 10:38:29 AM EDT
skoal apple or skoal mint.

upwards around 6 - 7 bucks.
Link Posted: 3/12/2005 10:38:54 AM EDT
Mint Skoal with the occasional Apple Blend. almost 6 bux a can. Or cigars. Cigars will kill your wallet though.
Link Posted: 3/12/2005 11:29:21 AM EDT
I used to chew Cope (too expensive). Now it's Grizzly. It's less than 2 bucks a can.
I tried to quit but I could'nt handle it.
Link Posted: 3/12/2005 11:34:06 AM EDT
Redwood, Grizzly, Red Seal

All remind me of Copenhagen, but a helluva lot cheaper and seem to stay moist longer.

I buy 6 x 5 can rolls at a time at Sam's. About $13 per roll, I think.

Go through about a can a day.

I chew Cope Long Cut myself, about 1/2 can a day. The local gas station by me has it in some 2-pack "promo" wrapping for $6.49. Normal price is $4.50. I'm gonna have to stock up.
