Did you ever hear your parents say "I love you" to eachother?

Big "no" here.

Yes, but not a lot.
Times are different, people were more reserved then(60's for me)

My kids have heard it plenty, so have my coworkers. I do love her and you never know when events are going to intervene that separate you forever. Better let them know when you can.

All the time. Both said it to us kids all the time too.

Wow. Some people are just lucky.

My mom, hell he never told me. This idiocy was broken in my own family, try to my wife and little ones every day. Even my Marine son when he calls and he has no problem telling me also over the phone when he's around his pals.

I hear it all the time.

But my kids have...

Now my grandkids, hear it all the time from mom and dad
and grandma and grandpa.

If something needs changing, then change it,

Rarely if ever.

All the time and they still do after 53 years...
Link Posted: 12/17/2005 7:07:39 PM EDT
Yeah, but it's been a long fucking time. I think they got divorced in 1989.

Nope and mine just had their 33rd anniversary.

My parents did and still do. My Mom always went out of her way each day to do little things for my Dad to make him feel special and I do the same thing for my husband. She took more time than I do though. She always compliments him and tells him how handsome she thinks he is. Its pretty nice.

When I was a teenager a couple of times my parents were flirting around and dashed off for seemingly passionate sex. I guess it was nice but I would have rather they excercised celebacy.

My Grandparents on the other hand carried on conversations like this:

"What in the hell do you want now? You damn idiot"

"Now don't you be talking that way about me or I'll hit you with my shoe" [she did all of the time].

As weird as it sounds "No", but I've never seen them kiss each other (open mouth) either. So maybe it's something that happens behind closed doors. My parents are quickly coming up on their 30th anniversary.

Every day.

Not until dad was on his deathbed.

No, but they've been divorced since I was 4.
Link Posted: 12/17/2005 7:30:51 PM EDT
Mine say it to each other at least daily, and mean it. My mom tell me she loves me every time I talk to her on the phone (a few times a week) and my dad does less frequently, certainly every time I see him in person.
Link Posted: 12/17/2005 7:33:57 PM EDT
Yeah. They kiss too. In Public

I'm 23 and this still weirds me out. Ewww.
Link Posted: 12/17/2005 7:36:01 PM EDT
No.....but I heard them doing it one night when I was about 17 and it grossed me out. It seems my mom was really into being spanked.

Why does every one seem to think that thier parents are some sort of biblical characters.....

Hey we like to fuck too.... y'all should thank the good lord... otherwise you would'nt be talkin this crap.
Link Posted: 12/17/2005 7:57:06 PM EDT
Yes, and we kids heard it on a regular basis to.

Does catching them doing it count? Didn't see it but I heard it. My poor child like ears

Never. And they never said to my sister and I. Dad is 69 and still can't say it.

Now sis and I fought like cats and dog as kids, but after she moved off to college we grew closer. Now we finish each phone call with "I love you."

There isn't a day goes by, when daughter comes over, that we don't tell each other "I love you" several times a day. Completely spontaneous. And each phone call is ended the same way.

I had great parents and wouldn't trade them for the world. But they didn't "demonstrate" their love. You "knew" it and that was all that was required.

Yes, frequently.

Never heard my parents tell each other. They divorced 14 years ago. (He walked out on her on New Years Eve). I tell my wife and kids every day! Its kinda like "breaking the curse."
