button brought me back to the first page of GD. A search said there is no SERE thread.

I dunno, most of the stuff I saw was public knowledge, or well known enough to no matter. I didn't see anything detailing actual training regiments or what is specifically taught. I'm a civi but I won a contest to go do a SERE course run by former Spec-Ops guys out in AZ. I still had to sign a NDA for certain things, which was strange, but they did a full background check before you were eligible. Two week class. Stayed in a room for the first couple nights in a cabin then they came and snatched us in the night. Fun times. I really enjoyed what I learned and the bond I formed with the other guys there was pretty tight.

If something is classified, it does not matter if it was made public or is public knowledge or not, it is still classified. Any person caught releasing or talking about classified information, even if publically known already, can still be prosecuted.

this guy with a friend who had a brother that went to SERE school...

I doubt there was any threat to OPSEC.

I missed the thread but, yes....

look at wikileaks - there's a reason why we don't read that stuff on our home computers - still classified even though it's "public"

same with info on our courses - especially SERE.... knowing what they learn in class means you learn how they were taught to resist breaking - so you can work around it.... NOT info that needs to be public

yes, The highest level the USAF offers. 1984. I lost 15 pounds of hard earned muscle.

IMO there was too much in that thread, including some specifics that were too specific IMO.

The stakes are too high to even talk around it. The next guy that gets bound and has a rifle at the back of his head agrees with me.

I didn't read the whole thread, but I didn't see anything particularly incriminating. Most of it was common knowledge stuff, hearsay, or tall tales.

But it was wise to shut that down before it spiraled.

Or how close you are to getting to a real DFAC vs MRE's. The morning we were headed back to garrison after 8 straight in the field and one of the other Officer Candidates opened an MRE I almost puked it smelled so bad. That was just because we were only about and hour from a reasonable facsimile of real food, though.
