I don't think so and when Mr. Perry announces in about a half an hour, wearing a dark suit and red tie "I am guessing", he will ask you and the rest of the nation the same thing.

What good has happened to the middle class? Is (sic) our chillren learning? How is your 401k? Does unemployment bother you? Do you think the President has lived up to his promises from almost 3 years ago? Do you think the current President is working effectively with congress? The unemployment rate is almost 10% and climbing, do you think the policies of President Obama are bringing that number down or is it going up?

The price of oil and gas have steadily risen since 2008, do you think the President has addressed this issue properly?

Are we a nation more divided or more unified since 2008?

Are we better off than we were 4 years ago?

Personally, I am...directly as a result of the choices I've made and the actions I have taken.

That said...I'd imagine that if you put up a national poll, and people were genuinely honest, the overwhelming response would be that they were either the same or worse off than they were four years ago.

I might need to preface the statement as saying as a nation..not just individually, hence the "more divided" sentence.

No. I make less, work more, my health insurance is more expensive and I get less coverage, everything is more expensive and as result I have less to give others - financially and emotionally.

Edit - as a nation? Do you even need to ask?

I'm tons better......but a whole year of my income over the last 4 was because a client had to cancel every major project they had planned, except the one I did for them. In a better economy, they might have skipped over my project.

No. It takes alot more of my take home just to maintain my life style, and it is far from extravagant.

The nation is worse off, but in a strange coincidence, I'm actually better off as an individual.

As a nation...does that change for you? Are you confident that in the future, such fortune will fall in your lap?

Nope. Four years ago I was doing way better, as were the companies around me.

I've been unemployed for the last 6 weeks and while there are no shortage of companies and agencies interested in me, despite their workload and how much they could use a guy like me, their higher-ups will not approve opening the reqs.

So, I'm getting stuff done around the house.

Exactly. I'm doing far better than I ever have. I can attribute it to personal choices made with advice from a financial adviser. If Obama wasn't in office, I'd be doing even better.

I am not better off. I just took a pay cut but at least still have a job. Inflation is grinding me and I have a huge sense of overall unease with the international, national, and to some extent local situation. It is my prayer O will be turned out of office, his health take over will be overturned, and that will signal the beginning of things getting better for everyone.

I understand him..but remember he is in Carolina.

I think his aww shucks persona will fair well with those who have been ignored the last few years. I hope he will take a better command of king's english. His down home appeal will help..his pro-American stance as well.

It's a year and half out...he will have to go from state to state to win people based on his ability to communicate.

I agree with that..it seems he is pretty smart and savvy on who he talks to. Almost like Clinton, squinting his eyes and with a southern drawl..."I feel your pain and if elected."

His diction is actually similar to that of a mega-church pastor, during a sermon - things like softening your tone and trailing your voice off at the end of a sentence, and raising it about mid way.

I'm kind of a geek, when it comes to language.

Personally I'm doing a lot better. Better pay, better benefits, better house. Gun collection is moving along steadily and we still have money for vacations, eating out, etc. I'm sure I'd be even more prosperous had Ron Paul won the last election.
