I would love to see that POS escorted out the door and thrown out on his ass like an amateur drunk who drank too many beers, insulted too many women, and stepped on too many toes.

So what's the procedure on the recall, exactly? I understand there's a petition going around that needs so many signatures, but what happens after they have enough signatures?

It's been tried in over thirty states and this one is going to be the first to ever be pulled off. We need nearly a million signatures to get it on the ballot.
The ballot will have a yes/no question should Gay Davis be retained as governor. There's not enough teachers, non-tax paying voters, and illegal aliens to keep him in. If 1 voter more than 50% votes to not keep Davis then the next question counts - who whould you choose as govenor. Most of the major Democrats have already said that they will not run against Davis - who by law is excluded from the election. Potentially someone with 10% of the vote could be govenor for the next two years - fighting against nearly a 3/4 Democrate majority in the assembly. |

If only it were easier to call for a vote of no confidence. Essentially, that is what you guys are doing. I remember helping a recall effort in my home town to remove this IDIOT from the schoolboard (Mom and Dad are both school teachers). We got the required sigs, but the coward resigned before we could throw him out on his ass. Keep at it guys, this is the kind of politics we need to be involved in. You dont have to wait for an election to fire your rep. Remember THEY WORK FOR YOU. You are their boss. Fire them if they dont perform as advertised. Maybe this will get the message to the reps and other officials that just because you got elected, that doesnt mean you are safe till the next election. Perhaps the next target could be Fineswine? Ya never know

I wish you CA guys luck with this. If I still lived in CA i would be out there collectying sigs. Unfortunately, it's going to go down like this:
1. Required sigs are collected 2. GD sues to prevent recall 3. GD files for injunctions 4. GD drags this out as long as possible 5. If he has any time left on his term, or if the Demoncratic party machine decides at some point that he's doing more damage than good, GD resigns and Cruz Bustamonte becomes Governer, continuing GD's policies and giving the Demonrats more time to screw up CA as much as possible. 6. General civil unrest requires GWB to nationalize the CA National Guard to put down the riots that break out all over CA. Nortehern CA finally gets enough votes to pass a ballot measure letting them become a separate state, riding all of the poiliticians out of Sacramento on rails. Good luck guys, and I hope #6 isn't a necessity. |

Anyone in CA know if Davis can do any of the above (suits, injunctions, etc.) under the recall law to prevent action? Or, will he trot out a bunch of old women to say they didn't understand the ballot and try to invalidate the election. (Remember the Panzie Nussbaums from Palm Beach County in 2000?)
If the recall succeeds, unless the people of CA wise up, there will be two years of ongiong struggle and controversy followed by the election of another DemoRat. Whoever is elected will, as others have observed, have to fight a Demo. legislature which will no doubt do everything in its power to discredit and hamper him/her. Since the Republican "can't govern", obviously we will have to get someone who can "get things done." My wife wants more than anything to move to CA, and I have been resisting on a number of grounds. Not just guns, but taxes (wait until the license fees go back up) and others. Sure the recall and replacement looks good, but unless Californians stop being children, it won't mean a thing. |

Well, it is not easy, but it can be done to have a Repub gov and a Dem legislature. We need someone with some fiscal sense to get us out of this debacle. It can be clearly seen that Davis' solutions are not going to work, and will get us deeper in debt. My family visited Orlando, FL a few years back, and we met some real nice retired couple from Rancho Cuccamonga while at DisneyWorld. They told me that the couldn't retire in Calif. because the cost of living is way to high, and they specifically cited vehicle registration. |

The winner of the recall election will be the one with the most votes REGARDLESS of percentage.
Outcomes Davis could win and get a new lease on political life. A more popular Democrat could take his place and then run in 2006 as in incumbent. A weak Republican could sneak in and inherit all the problems (which include and overwhelming Democratic majority in both the Senate and Assembly and lose in a re-election bid in 2006. A strong Republican successor could win, get elected in 2006 but would not be able to run in 2010, where he would control re-districting. A mixed blessing at best. As much as I'd like to see him recalled I'm not sure it wouldn't be more productive for Conservatives to keep the pressure on the Democratic legislature and expose them for the profligate spenders and nanny state proponents they really are. It's a large hurdle. |

Is it true that Davis was a Vietnam Veteran? If this is true, and IF he has any honor and integrity left in his person, he would step down gracefully and let someone with better Leadership skills take over.

Article in the Editorial Section of the San Ramon Valley Times on Tuesday, September 3, 2002 submitted by Dick McBurnie of Danville, CA. "Dubious medal" In most cases I respect a military man who earns a medal. In the case of Gray Davis the oposite is true. Contrary to the comments of Greg Trybull, Gray Davis was presented with a Bronze Star by an upper echelon member of the military for dubious reasons; he did not earn the medal. Davis spent a short period of time in Vietnam (less than 7 months - Dec. 9, 1968, to July 3, 1969), a considerable distance from any hostility (Loc Binh) and according to prior reports was more or less guarded and kept away from any areas of hostile action. Davis manned a typewriter during his tour of duty and any consideration for a medal, under the circumstances described, is suspect... Leaving him in office will just invite others to screw with Calif. Lets see how many dems stand up with him during his recall campaign to keep his job. Davis is going to get to know what the Maytag man is feeling, it is going to get real lonely. |

I feel really bad about California. I used to live there and was always in awe of its raw beauty and splendor. It's just too fuckin' bad that liberals , illegal aliens, and people like Davis, Condit, Feinstein, etc. ruined my feelings about the state for good.

Recalling Davis isn't going to solve the political problems in California. It's a one-party state and the Dems have a hammerlock on the legislature.
The state really needs to be split up. It's too big to govern, and as a result you get politicians running amok because the government is both big enough to cause lots of problems but also lacks the visibility of a national government. |

My Assemblyman (Tom Harman) communicates that he is holding the line on tax increases. He is Republican and I can imagine there is considerable pressure and influence being brought to bear on the half dozen deciding votes. I'll believe him until I find I'm wrong.
