He's the kind of guy that walks into a poker game and asks if they are playing cards. You Guys Playing Cards? |

I just know when we were in Iraq we mounted our CCO's over the receiver on our M4's. It just feels comfortable to my eyes there.

This mount placed the red dot a pretty good bit high as some of you mentioned in another post by me. This is the best I could do to lower it with what I had laying around. (If in fact I really did lower it). anyhows it is now a lot more secure. Opinions welcome. View Quote get rid of the pos m1a get a AR308 platform welcome to the now |

LOL
Buying an M1A and then trying to install all the features of a 308 AR. |

Why would you put a rail on a rail ? Chin weld ? Half of arfcom bitches because a Knights rail is 3 grams heavier than a piece of tin foil and you show up mounting rails on rails . Put the red dot on the rail.

Were it mine, I'd mount the red dot directly to the Sage stock. The mount you've placed over the receiver just adds weight without significant benefit.
Just my opinion, and it's worth what you paid for it. |

Oh, so the height above bore doesn't appear about the same as the EBR? You experts amaze me. View Quote Who claimed to be an expert? You asked a stupid question in the OP. There are multiple issues with the mount in your OP, aside from HOB. Aside from that, how a belt fed is employed is likely different than how an M1A is employed. |

Low mount directly to rail in front of receiver.
It's a red dot, no need to have it at a "proper eye relief" distance. You'll drop weight, have the lowest possible mount and as an added bonus, unobstructed access to the bolt & chamber for clearing malfunctions, cleaning and uninterrupted ejection. Seems like a no brainer to me. |

That's one ugly rifle, maybe the worst I've ever seen. Put it back to original stock configuration and use the irons. Or sell the monstrosity.

I had a M1A1 in a heavy-as-shit Sage "chassis". It wasn't a "precision rig" - even with a Smith "NSN" optic mount. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

If you get a mount a little higher you can shoot from the hip.

it should be forward mounted on the rail. direct line of sight.
