Got formally reprimanded for the comments he made regarding "proning out open carriers who enter East Palo Alto in California with his M4 and then shooting them if they make a move and then get two weeks off" on his Facebook account.  He started a firestorm on the internet with his comments as some of you may know and tonight he got formally handed down an Official reprimand. What he got we may never know because the Chief was using California Penal Code 832.7 to hide behind so it cannot be made public. In light of the BART Police Officer shooting and the rioting as a result of that in Oakland, CA this Detective shouldnt have made such comments on a public forum. CBS and Fox news was there to cover the event. I just went to check out the City Council's take on firearms.....the over all impression- they did not like it. No one commented on the police officers statements after a few citizens  addressed the council. No surprise there. It is California after all.

East Palo Alto (EPA), California is separated by US 101 from the more affluent Palo Alto- Home to Stanford University and of course the Palo Alto Police Chief who just got fired for saying she will have her officers stop every black person that comes over from ahem EPA.

Was able to get a hold of this statement letter.

Police Captain being interviewed by CBS and FOX news affiliates.

Am I the only one confused by this post?

Sooooooo.... an officer got his peepee smacked because of some stupid comments he made on Facebook and you happen to have a copy of the reprimand. However, due to some strange rule, we'll never find out what kind of disciplinary action was taken. That's what I'm getting out of it.

Oops.

No, that looks like a statement admitting that someone broke department protocol, and that they would be reprimanded be their superior.  Probably just the department's press release to appease the reporters while they hear the typical 'no comment' routine.

Hell Im confused too with this veil of secrecy. So Im sorry for the confusion  lol. Well that letter was not given to me...a reporter let us take a photo of it...that is why it was not scanned. We only had a moment to check it out so my friend used his Droid to snap it. I didnt even have a camera. Thanks Irish for posting the story. I was beat last night from all the driving.

In California personnel matters are never made public.

He shot his mouth off, like most of those in GD, got caught, then got spanked.  Apparently the 1st amendment doesn't apply to LEOs.     (Of course we all know that there is a double standard for LEOs.  You can't say or do anything that constitutes conduct unbecoming an Officer or brings discredit upon the Department, even if it is on your own time)

What was the expected outcome, he's writing posts on facebook (Which probably has his real name/current city and all types of other information along with pictures identifying him as law enforcement) about proning people out who aren't even breaking the law and shooting them if they move. Then riding the desk for a week as a punishment
I'm sure he was joking but there are certain things that shouldn't be said out side your realm of trusted friends.... Definitely shouldn't have been posted on the internet.
