I just got through talking to one of our county LEO. He said my neighbor was complaining about me having a security camera pointing at his windows. The neighbor claims I am spying on him. I had the deputy to check around the house for cameras and told him to escort the neighbor over in the daylight to check for himself.

First thing, I have no security system other than a Rat Terrier in the house.

Second, this is totally out of the blue clear sky as I have had no trouble with this neighbor in the 12 years I have been living here. We used to hunt and fish together, and our kids used to play and sleep over.

Now the neighbor, on the other hand has trouble with lots of people in town and has a history of DUI and light drug abuse. I haven't personally seen him up close in nearly a year, but my son told me after the visit that the guy has lost a lot of weight lately, kind of making me think of meth abuse.

The deputy and I talked at legnth of the trouble the neighbor has caused for the Sheriffs department and other families around town, a lot of which was news to me.

I have a concealed carry permit and a new Colt Defender .45, and I know from now on it will be a growth on me. Just saddens me that this will happen in a small Texas town of only 1800 population... fullclip

Edit because "Colt" is not spelled "Cold".. fullclip

I knew a speed freak who was afraid to leave his house because he was convinced that the feds had a net over his door that would trap him if he went out. These assholes are capeable of anything. Be carefull.

Sorry to hear that, fullclip. At least the deputy knew who was telling the truth. Stay vigilant.

Watch your six man. I'd be proactive and go talk to him during the day tho... and try to set things straight.... in a cool, calm way. He was probably just freaking out.
Link Posted: 9/28/2004 6:21:37 PM EST
He's probably smoking crack.

These crackheads, when they're "enjoying" their crack, typically hang sheets, blankets, towels and such over all the windows and peek out from behind them...looking outside all night long while they're smoking.

For some reason they feel that everyone, particularly the police, gives a flying fuck that they're smoking crack in ther own home...why they think anyone would even know about it...your guess is as good as mine.

Crackheads get serious paranoia..and if they're on a binge they can lose weight rapidly.

Shitty stuff.

I'd watch out for the guy tryin to steal your stuff, break into your garage or something.

fullclip: I live in So. Kali-fornia, and I though we have a monopoly on meth heads in the Riverside & San Bernardino Counties(30-50 miles east of L.A.). Every so couple of weeks or so, or thereabouts, I read in the newspapers of a bust on a meth lab. These areas are desert and are sparsely populated.

We have a really bad meth problem around here. I don't think the cops can stay up with it if they tried.

I've had to deal with meth labs several times as a first responder/fireman and on the real job. Really shitty what the stuff does to people, and makes them do.

This has just moved the family on a higher alert level. So much for the safety of small towns... fullclip

Think again about carrying.

If someone suffering paranoia sees you carrying a firearm, he may think you're after him and attack you with a rifle, pistol, or whatever.

If I carried, I would do so concealed. Just my opinion.

Good luck!

Good point here, kind of. Problem is he knows what kind of firepower I have.

And when sane he knows how I will react.

As I said earlier, we used to hunt and fish together. In a small town like ours everyone knows everything about everyone... fullclip

I have some experience dealing with meth users. Meth makes you crazy. Not crazy like a fox crazy either. Im talking crazy picking holes in their arms and faces crazy. Im talking licking any flat surface in the house crazy. Im talking never leaving the house because they dont trust each other crazy. Im talking smoking a carton of cigs in a day crazy. Im talking about the look they get....the look that says you dont know me anymore, the look that says I will do WHATEVER I have to do to get another bump, the look that only fucked up souls can achieve. Meth is bad bad shit.

We had a renter that was (obviously) a tweaker. He asked me one evening when I was there if I had seen the sheriff and the narc task force on my property (that he was living on). I said no, but he insisted that I must've seen 'em. He said he had spoken to the LEO's for me and the sheriff was concerned that he saw signs of 'cooking'. He promised the cops and me tat he'd keep an eye out for any suspicious activity

He never used the front gate or door when he was really wound up. Once we booted him we also found outbound bullet holes through the pipe on the front gate. He had been shooting at someone as they approached the gate. Hopefully they were imaginary

Does he have firearms too? That could be a BAAAAD situation. Maybe you could offer to buy ALL of them . Not to support his habit but to defuse the possible firearms related incedent. My 2 cents.Take care.

If he is whacked out on crank, that may not be such a good idea. You can look into their eyes and see the backs of their skulls. No telling what he might take of it.

Stay away, stay safe, stay alert, stay prepared.

What happens with Meth is they stay awake for days, then they do more and start "geeking", this will also happen when people smoke crack. When they "geek up" they start thinking everyone is syping on then, the cops are outside, everyones out to get them. Being awake for 3 days makes it even worse. As I heard one say, you will see the lines in the raod start waving and you will feel like their are bugs all over you.

Careful he may get really bad think your out to get him and attack you, I have seen it happen.

I guess the lesson is:

Meth is bad.
People use meth.
Therefore, People who use meth are bad.

Bad people should be killed.
People who use meth are bad.
Therefore, all meth users, who are bad people, should be killed.

People who are killed don't do anything.
All meth users are inherently dead.
Therefore, meth users don't do anything.

Using this I just figured out you aren't in any danger. Isn't logic great!!!

Yeap sounds like a Meth freak. I have a cousin thats like that. He got fired from a $30 hour job. I worked with him. He freaked out and told the top Mangager that he knew there was spy's working in the company and they was out to get him. He said the Goverment had a satilite that took pic's of his property. He finally wigged out and said some sherriifs was cooking Meth in the woods and he went to investagate it.They was paying him off by giveing it to him for free so he wouldn't nark on them. There are many many other story's ... Your neighbor is a junkie... Becareful. WarDawg

I had a fellow state constable who was steady as a rock mentally all my life we grew up fished etc. together his older brother is Schiztophrenic i was worried it was happening to him to when he started giving mye weird stories about groups sabotaging him.

Last time i talked to him , the United Mineworkers , The state Police, The local police, the clerks at the local sheetz Convienience store, and last but not least the Ku Klux Klan affiliated with the United Mine workers and thwe FBI were watching and harrasing him.

Needless to say i do not talk with him anymore, he keeps to himself and is no longer a State Constable, The guy who beat him through a write in vote campaign was of course put up to it by the secret groups out to get him!!

Other than that he's still a nice guy!!

Approaching him is now the last thing you want to do. He already thinks you are the enemy, little or nothing that you do won't be filtered by the thought you are out to get him. Avoid him until you know he's completed rehab and has been clean for some time. Unfortunately, if he ever gets there he won't be the guy you knew.

Definitely protect your stuff, as you are the enemy stealing your stuff will make sense to him. He may even think to sell it to make money as a bonus for him.

Here in VA , WV, KY, TN OxyContin is the big thing. They will swipe your shoes to get money to buy more. We call it hillbilly herion. The pill is time release so they chew it to get a big hit. My dad caught a guy trying to pick the lock on the camper top of his truck. No 1 the topper was open, no 2 the old man kicked his ass. The sad part, I grew up with this guy, played basketball and baseball with him.

When I was visiting my wife's hometown in TN a few months ago we noticed that there's a business on the town square whose sign says they do hazmat cleanup and "meth lab remediation is our specialty" The time we visited before that I was in a gunshop and among the patrons hanging out were a couple of cops who were exchanging stories about some of the drugged out freaks they've had to deal with. Here's some that I remember:

- Responded to a shots fired call and found a naked man firing randomly into the treetops in his backyard. When approached by an officer the guy said "Am I ever glad to see you. The damn feds are in the trees spying on my and I need all the help I can get!"

- Went to pick up a woman for failure to appear. Entered the house and found that every window, door, cabinet door and air vent were jammed shut, covered up, blocked, locked, whatever she could do to keep 'them' from sneaking in the house and spying on her.

- Man with out of state plates pulled over for driving erratically. When the officer approaches the car the guy is ranting about the helicopter that's been following him all night and shining the spotlight on him through the tree. When asked where the helicoipter is the man pointed at the full moon.

Update.... Talked to another neighbor today and the jerk neighbor had called him last night to complain about us talking about him. It never happened, but you can't tell him that. He claims to have a audio recording of us plotting to "Get Him" . Now the sheriff is involved and wants to call in DPS investigators.

The crazy neighbor is taking new meds that is prescribed for adult ADD, along with his daily dose of alcohol. This is getting looney tunes.

My weekend project is now set for more security lights and stronger gates. Stronger locks on doors and review of personal awareness skills, such as blind corners, aware of your surroundings and so forth.

To review, his complaints is that I am spying on him with cameras, plotting to get rid of him and invading his privacy with cameras that see through walls. None of the above is true. .. fullclip

FWIW, Adult ADD meds are usually a stimulant, mine is an amphetamine. It shouldnt cause him to behave oddly though, his behavior is very much like paranoia caused by methamphetamine use.

I predict this will end badly....

Good luck for you will need it. If you don't have a family attorney, it's time to get one. Should the worst happen, my advice is to avail yourself of your right to remain silent til your lawyer arrives. Sorry you're going through this. Also, if your neighbor menaces, or threatens you be sure to immediately file a restraining order. Document, Document, Document.....if not for a criminal case, for a civil one.

Regards,

Gary
