So it's not like DHS is saying that such rifles are appropriate for mere lowly peasants like us - they are saying that select-fire rifles in 5.56NATO w. 30-round magazines are appropriate for self-defense weapons for their ICE officers. Not quite the same, and even if the hypocrisy is pointed out, the gov't response will just be the same logic as "military and police need these weapons, not you" |

They will claim that the report was referring to LEO/.gov personnel and not the peasantry of the nation. ETA: If I just waited a couple more minutes, I would of seen DK's post and could of saved some typing.  |

No, no, no, you have to read closer. "DHS and its components have a requirement for a 5.56x45mm NATO, select-fire firearm suitable for personal defense use in close quarters" I believe the correct interpretation is we should be allowed to own M4s for personal defense, if not AR-15s.  |
