Unusually so, given the weak sauce they've had lately.

It's largely symbolic - but I'll take a symbolic victory right now.

Johanns  introduced that the fed pays AZ and Fremont Ne  for their legal fees if the lawsuits against them are lost by the feds

sure it won't pass but itll be another check in the record come November
http://www.nebraska.tv/Global/story.asp?S=12814011

Associated Press - July 15, 2010
3:45 PM ET

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - U.S. Sen. Mike Johanns has
introduced a bill that would require the federal government to pay
attorney and court costs if it loses a lawsuit filed against states or
local governments over immigration laws.

The Nebraska Republican's bill comes nine days after the U.S. Justice
Department sued Arizona to throw out the state's toughest-in-the-nation
immigration law.

Nebraska is 1 of 9 states behind a legal brief supporting Arizona's
immigration law, which directs officers to question people about their
immigration status during the enforcement of other laws if there's a
reasonable suspicion they're in the U.S. illegally.

Voters in the city of Fremont in eastern Nebraska also recently
passed an ordinance to ban hiring or renting property to illegal
immigrants.

i just wrote my senators telling them to vote for this amendment.

http://vitter.senate.gov/public/index.cfm?FuseAction=PressRoom.PressReleases&ContentRecord_id=d20c5120-ea15-ef7a-a131-d1edb76d31a0&Region_id=&Issue_id=

(Washington, D.C.) – Today, U.S. Sens. David Vitter (R-Louisiana), chairman of the U.S. Senate Border Security and Enforcement First Immigration Caucus, and Jim DeMint (R-South Carolina), chairman of the U.S. Senate Steering Committee, introduced an amendment that would prohibit President Obama’s administration, including the Department of Justice and other agencies, from participating in lawsuits seeking to invalidate the recently enacted Arizona immigration law. The DeMint-Vitter amendment (#4464) could be voted on next week as part of the debate on the small business bill on the Senate floor.

“States like Arizona shouldn't be prosecuted for protecting their citizens when the federal government fails to do so,” said DeMint. “The federal government is rewarding illegal behavior and encouraging many more to enter our nation illegally when they refuse to enforce our laws. States along the border are facing kidnappings, drug trafficking, human trafficking and gang violence and they have a duty to keep their residents safe. Instead of suing states for doing his job, the President should get serious and stop holding border security hostage to pass amnesty and score points with his liberal base.”

“The state of Arizona is simply taking responsibility for a problem that the federal government has neglected for years, but Washington’s only response is to oppose these new enforcement efforts and take them to court. The Obama administration should not use taxpayers’ money to pay for these lawsuits that the American people overwhelmingly oppose,” said Vitter.

Arizona’s new law, SB 1070, grants state law enforcement officials the authority to enforce federal immigration laws by allowing them to inquire about immigration status of individuals who are lawfully stopped for other crimes. The law explicitly forbids racial profiling. As many as 18 states are considering similar laws, as reported by the Associated Press, including Florida, South Carolina, Idaho, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Michigan.

Yes.

They have done it for years with other issues, such as: Federal funding for abortion, investigations to restore felon's gun rights (DOJ is prohibited from spending any money to do such investigations), and so on...

What the hell is so racist about asking people with no ID and who can't speak English if they've broken the law?

One time during a routine traffic stop the cop asked if I had "a knife, gun, bazooka or tank" on me. Should I have called the ACLU for racial discrimination?

I went through 3 Border Security checks on my last vacation - and never left the country. I was asked if I was an American citizen. Should I have screamed "That's Racist!" at the Nazi Klansman who asked me that?

What the fuck is wrong with half of America nowadays?

I fucking swear there's got to be some kind of mass-hypnosis or electromagnetic-mind-control radio waves being sent out or fluoride rotting people brains or SOMETHING happening to make so many millions of people so fucking RETARDED when it comes to society or politics.

It doesn't even have to be a "victory" in terms of getting the suit defunded.  Just getting the Dems to publicly support the lawsuit prior to the elections is a win.
