Just get some DPX. .380 is on the margin as it is, so put the best round you can in your gun.

Ball is the best defensive ammo you can find.
Even the BEST 380 has marginal expansion and does not meet fbi requirements by a wide margin. |

I saw pictures here a while ago of a negligent discharge into a guy's hand. Looked absolutely brutal. Haters gunna hate. Really the data shows that no matter what PISTOL caliber you're working with placement is key. I wouldn't want to run around with 22lr or a .32 but 380 will cut through enough ballistic gel to give anyone a bad day. |

I use ball with .380. A slight expansion means dick if it doesn't penetrate far enough to reach vital organs. Just my opinion.

I use Buffalo Bore with a Barnes, but it's probably more than $1/per. Maybe $1.50.

When I carried a backup gun in the late 80's, it was a Browning BDA .380.
Back then, the best ammo for defensive use was the Winchester Silver Tip. |

I quit carrying defensive ammo and went for offensive ammo.
