Cabelas has 6" Wusthof Classic chef knife + cutting board on sale for $50, regular $160. The cheapest I could find it online was $120 without the board. I just ran down and got myself one.

I'd grab one if I didn't have a few kitchen knives already.

That's a good deal.
I don't have a need for a 6" chef's knife so I am going to let that pass.

I wish this deal was for the 8" but since all my knives now are shit I took advantage of this deal. I'll get an 8" later

Damn, I wish it was at least an 8" - I'd be all over it then.

I jumped on this as well.  I'm trying to slowly build a quality array of kitchen knives.

You only need 2 or maybe three knives. 10" or 8" chef knife, paring knife, 8" or 10" serrated bread knife.

Everything else is a specialized tool. Carving, deboning, filet, clever, etc.

Wusthof makes excellent knives with a excellent warranty. I had a 15 year old Classic series knife that was only ever hand washed develop a crack in the handle. For the price of shipping them the old one they sent me a new knife free.

$11.87 for two using my Cabela's points.

Now, to keep them away from the family and out of the dishwasher.

Thanks OP!

Use my 6" Classic for most everything. Very versatile knife, and that's a great price OP.

LOL nobody does, thus the clearance.
A 6" kitchen knife is properly formed into what's called a Petty, about 1/2 as tall as a chef.
A Petty is a useful profile so you won't see them on clearance like this one

I must resist.  Good looking knife.  I just bought a 6" Mercer and it looks very similar, also a great knife.  I think 7" may be the most ideal size.

Was about to call OP a dumbass until I realized there a a Classic and a Gourmet version..... the classic being the better of the two (forged vs. stamped) and this is still cheaper than the gourmet version.  Picked up my mothers day gift!

All that knife would be good for with me is to hack the tips off my fingers easily.  I much prefer the 10" chefs over anything else although the santoko gets use too. I think the 8" chefs is too small although my wife likes that size... not me

Massive deal...as these are the ones made in Solingen. I already have sets of German knives...problem is they last forever, otherwise I would get this..
