I'm right there with ya'.
Went to buy a CZ, got a 97B, yep, a .45 ACP. USP, another .45 ACP. Of course, 1911 and 1991, .45 ACP. Now I'm looking at an old S&W Model 25 revolver in, you guessed it, .45 ACP. I am an addict. |

When I lived in Texas, I bought Norinco 1911A1s (I was lacking funds, but apart from finish, both worked flawlessly), could buy just about anything from Wilson's off the shelf. My be a local thing, though.

That's why you should do some research BEFORE you buy the gun. You want a .45 you can find a gazillion accessories for, buy a 1911.

I have had a 1911 btu my department wont let me use a single action pistol...I aswitched to a glock 21C. you can get a crap load of stuff for the glock 9's and 40's but not the 21 kinda suks. |

Most shooters for one reason or another would rather have a .40 or 9 mm - I think it's based on two weaknesses.
1) Recoil. The .45 can kick pretty good with the right load and for smaller people can be a lot to control. 2) Fewer shots in the same size grip. The same people that have trouble getting use to the recoil of the .45 believe that more shots are needed to settle the situation. Personnally I don't think I'd need more than two to settle most arguments but I carry 7 (or 10) in the magazine anyway. It takes less than a second to swap magazines and if the BG's are coming at you that fast and thick it's time for some belt action action. There is also the issue of our lawyer friends looking for an after shooting pay check. As the .45 is such a powerful round compared to the 9 mm the shooter was trying to kill my client (well duhh!). Get a 1911. There isn't a single part of the entire weapon that can't be swapped out or changed for something high performance - from the barrel to the magazine springs someone makes it. |
