Her first newsletter after opening the doors on her new business. She even has a two part special on the local news! Orders are coming in for her. Couldn't be prouder, although I don't get nearly as many sammiches as I used to. |

Looks cool. Is there a market for designer soap? Ever heard of Bath and Body Works? |
|
Yes there is. Folks are snapping up her stock. Her main focus is on teaching and supplying though. She is getting quite a few clients. So folks are figuring out bathing with chemicals and detergents sucks compared to real soap.

She got off her bum and got a business going. Said business seems to be going well. GREAT for her. If I were you, I'd start making and delivering her some sammiches right now.

Hey that's pretty sweet, does she happen to make shaving products like shaving soap and pre/post shave products and things like that?
|
|
Very nice! Tell your wife congrats!
And allow me to be the first to say that this thread was a VERY refreshing change to the usual whining/ranting/insulting threads most GD posters usually make about their wives! |

Quoted: Hey that's pretty sweet, does she happen to make shaving products like shaving soap and pre/post shave products and things like that? Yes she does, and we made a great Hunters soap as well. She didn't realize what a demand there was for that kind of soap. Quoted: currency is better than sammiches True! |

Thats great, and good luck.
I was in Warner Robins two weeks ago, visiting with on of the wife's childhood friends. The drove us down into town and I could not believe how it has grown from Centerville back to WR. I was stationed there 1970-72 and meet my wife there. |

Quoted: Pics of soa............wife First request for pics from me so help me out here I think you're looking for photos of wife in soap. I expect we'll have to use our imaginations for that one! There was a question above about shaving soap. There appears to be a market for shaving soap at this forum. A few years back we had a member that was selling soap to a few people, I don't know if it worked into a large enterprise. |
|
Quoted: Looks cool. Is there a market for designer soap? Yep, except among gun show attendees. Many of them seem to be allergic to the stuff... |

I hope your wife does well OP and you should be proud of her. I just made a small purchase for my wife as I have been trying to get her to go in this direction for some time (using hand made soaps).

Yep. She's an Arfcommers wife. If I order today, I can haz by Christmas? IS there an Arfcom promo code I can use? Is there a number to call, or is everything listed in the "store" considered in stock? ETA: Won't let me enter my address for shipping, and only gives me an option for local pickup. |
|
Checkout is busted... Won't accept the shipping options (local pickup only?).
|
|
She's working on it now. Thanks, PantherArms762, for letting her know. The cart is busted, appears to be the company she goes through for the shopping cart portion of the website. If you want something, she asks you email her at michelle AT mossycreeksoap.com.

Quoted: Quoted: Looks cool. Is there a market for designer soap? Huge market. Market has been saturated for years. My wife started making soap in the late 90s. Sold it to several local gift shops for a while and at the farmers market. Made a little bit of money, too. The product is great and we haven't used store bought bar soap for over a decade, but there are a lot of mass produced "homestyle" soaps out there now that are selling for $3/bar and you're not going to sell enough at prices like that to make any real money. I'm sure the OP's wife is making great soap and if it contributes a little bit of positive cash flow, great. But don't expect to retire on her soap money. ETA - I'm not trying to rain on any parades, just relating my personal experience. |

ETA - I'm not trying to rain on any parades, just relating my personal experience. Depends on the area. Not many in the business here, so she's doing OK. Not going to retire on it, true enough, at least not selling soap. Plenty of opportunities in teaching others and supplying though. Haven't found many worthwhile bars at $3. The cost of materials is more than that. |

I was expecting more pic requests like that. I have to say, I'm proud of GD for restraining themselves!

Got a neighbor whose wife just opened a medical billing biz. Talk about perfect timing! She's doing very good!

Good for you. I hear you on the whole "less sammiches for me" thing.
My wife is hugely successful in her field, and that means lots of "oh that's great dear" from me and less sammiches from her. But like you, I am very proud of my wife!!! Merry Christmas |
