Okay last night was all well until my desktop crashed while using IE, once I reboot it will not allow me to connect to the net or network. Now I have pinged the card and it gets replies 127.0.0.1

However I can't connect to anything and other computers can not access my folders.

Any ideas, ??

127.0.0.1 is the loopback IP address.
Your TCP/IP settings are most likely gone.
Try to reset them, if it still give problems, uninstall TCP/IP and reinstall it.

Need more details then.
You use dial up, cable, DSL, what?
DHCP or static IP?

Do you have an IP for the card? From a local DHCP?

Its cable
Ipconfig gives me
Connection-specific DNS Suffix  . :
IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 0.0.0.0
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 0.0.0.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . :

the router and all are fine, have other machines running, how I am able to talk.

Also wen I open IE it goes straight from my homepage to http:/// and keeps trying to refresh. Kind off odd to say the least.

Ummm your not getting an address.

Without that you'll never get on the net.

So the question is, is your service F'd, or is your NIC toast?

service is fine, I am wondering if it's the nic. this freaking sucks. I hate that machine but the best one I have

Maybe it gets too hot?

NICs do not get hot.
Try this:

ipconfig /release

then,

ipconfig /renew

Tell us what happens.

Not 100% sure but it looks like winsock.dll is corrupted.

Look at this.

Winsock

Hope it fixes it.
