A little update from my last post: http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_1_5/1503072_New_dog_arrives_in_10_days_.html
Little guy had an ordeal getting here. Plane overbooked so instead of leaving on the 7:30 am flight he left at 7 pm flight then delayed in Denver and ended up arriving in Reno at 2 am. Since then he's been running all over he back yard and trying to chew up my wife's Ugg slippers whenever he gets the chance. He went to the lake twice this weekend and runs right to the water (getting some love by the girls in bikinis) and has pointed an old pheasant wing I have in the garage a couple times when leaving for our walks. Right now just trying to teach him the house rules and break him of his mouthing. Looking forward to some more fun this summer with this guy... Last one for now...my buddy Wrigley! |

Love the picture of him sacked out on his back. The long day must have taken a lot out of him! |

A tired pointer is a well-behaved pointer.
A lacrosse racquet and some Kong balls will save you a lot on destroyed property and headaches. |
|
Yeah he likes the ladies and they like him. Tried to sneak some pics of him with the girls but the wife is like a hawk when we're at the lake... |

View Quote He's still not that interested in the Kong I got him. Tried some peanut butter but he's fascinated with the cuffs of my pants and the wife units robe and slippers right now. Only 8 weeks old so I'm sure that will change soon... |

Wow, that is one great looking pup! I'm looking to get a new pup within the year. Wired or GSP are in consideration.

A deutsch drahthaar(German wired hair) was on my short list of dogs when I was deciding on a breed. |

Did he stay with you while traveling or do the keep him with checked luggage?
I have never traveled with a dog and don't think I ever will. |

View Quote United Airlines uses a 3rd party company called petsafe or something like that that uses a climate controlled area in the plane to transport animals. They're the ones who actually screwed up the booking but, unlike most airlines, they can keep the temp reasonable and transfer the animals in a cooled/heated van from plane to plane. Most airlines won't fly a dog if the ground temp is above 80 degrees. So to answer your question he flew alone and was handled by the company United used. He came from Minnesota so he was flown out by the breeder... |

Also, you can train your dog to drop the ball right into the racquet so you don't have to get your hands covered in slobber. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Yeah, the breeder usually uses Delta and that's how they transport their animals but we chose to use United since the weather was in the 90's and we thought he might not get off the ground. The company they use is kind of a pain in the ass to work with but it was worth it to make sure he could be somewhat comfortable. |

Funny you would mention the pheasant wing in the garage. When I first got my current lab
I left her in the garage the first day we were gone and she found, not one, but two pheasant wings I had in bag. When I opened the garaged door, my jaw dropped. Every feather was strewn across the garage. At least she wasn't bored. |

Great looking dog!! Can I ask where you got him from? View Quote Rock Creek Kennels out of Rush City, Mn. I believe they're taking deposits for their 2014 litters at this point and some held over from 2013. Rock Creek Kennels |

Haha, I like the one of him in the shopping cart. View Quote Me too! Expression says,"Dad, can we please head to the pet isle, now?" I've always broken pups from gnawing by rolling their lip onto their teeth when they mouth. That way, they bite their own lip and learn not to do that by the most direct feedback stimulus. |

3rd pic, the one in the shopping cart, needs a meme.
Cute pup OP.

Neat.
Friend of mine has one of the really shaggy pudelpointers. Funny looking dog, but he's good at what he does. |
