I got a new DVD player (Denon DVD-1600 - older model, but good marks on AV forums) and it supports DVD-A (not SACD).

Got it for the DVD video quality and DVD-A is feaure that comes with it.

I'm using the audio fiber connection for video DVD's and had to hook up the multi-channel's for the DVD-A.

I have it hooked up to an Onkyo/595.

Any input as to the quality of DVD-A/SACD vs standard music CD's besides the 5.1 support?

I belive DVD-A sampling is 24-bit 96kHz per channel instead of the 16-bit 44.1kHz per channel of CD.

I gots SACD and it really rocks!  Sound is very good- of course if the rest of your system is suffering (ad i am not saying it is) then you may not notice any difference.
