actually at DU you don't even have to be a troll to be banned, just say anything other than "kerry/edwards are the greatest thing to happen to the world, ever!"
we do give the obvious trolls to many chances here though. |

Part of the reason is that D.U. is explicitly meant to be a democratic website, intended for democratic supporters and activists - it's the reason they exist, and thus it makes sense for them to ban people that don't "belong"
We're NOT a republican site, nor do we have a particular agenda like them - other than an interst in ARs (which is not even necessary in G.D.) - so it's a little like comparing apples and oranges. But I still LOVE the irony of letting them spout their drivel over here, when they KNOW that we would never be allowed to freely express OUR views on their site. |

We're better then them. Intelligent people in a free market of ideas recognize Truth all by themselves. We know that we're right, so we have no problem allowing dissenting opinions. We know that people will recognize that we are right. On the other hand, lies can only survive in a monopoly - i.e. nobody may say anything other then the approved lie. They know that their lies will fall apart under any kind of scrutiny, so they ban all dissenting opinions instantly.
Longtime arfcommers know that we have a variety of opinions here. Nobody is banned for having a different opinion. Even the real trolls, that are clearly just doing it for attention, are usually given the benefit of the doubt. |

Socialism is a house of cards, and in the back of their minds they know it. If they open the door of truth, their house will come crashing down around them. So, they choose to remain ignorant. They are intolerant cowards that can't stand the tiniest bit of criticism. They crap their pants the moment one of their dumb ideas is given the least bit of scrutiny.
We are prepared to defend our positions based on facts, when the situation warrants it. Their arguments are so flimsy that they cannot stand up to the light of truth. Thus they can only exist in a giant circle jerk, and ban anyone who might challenge their positions. |

For what it's worth, I'm not talking about people with dissenting opinions, I'm talking about trolls! someone with a post count of 3 that starts threads like "Iraq is destined to fail" with one of the worst excuses for a "position" I have ever read, and then never even respond to arguements in their own threads should be banned.
I don't care if someone doesn't like Bush. Hell, I don't LIKE Bush. In fact Bush has done alot of things that I'm not happy about (I just fear Jerry too much to vote for anyone other than Bush). I'm just a little annoyed by the "hit-and-run" DUh morons. |

Given an "Alert Button" here the Mods would be busy all the time because there are a few people here with that same level of paranoia. Hell, All you have to say is Bush didn't do so well in the debates and some will claim you're a DU Troll. Now if they actually banned DU trolls here, the poor Mods would constantly be reviewing individual cases for ban-able offenses. |
