Hopefully the democratic party is about to be splintered into two groups. I hope we see a more conservative group of democrats like Zell Miller emerge (or at least more moderate ones) who wish to seperate themselves from the left-wing liberals who have dominated the party in recent years. Then hopefully we'll see the liberals collapse and they lose power. I would have little against democrats if they were more like the old southerm democrats, barring the slavery issue of course.

But as long as the democratic party is ruled by the far left liberal whackos, the party is doomed. I really hope that we can see a movement begin within that party that takes it away from the left and more toward the center, if not a bit to the right. That would help take away some of the money the left gets and divide them up just enough to help the Republicans become stronger.

I wouldn't be surprised.  They're going to lose to Bush, who they see as a criminal, idiot, and the worst president in history.  Well, if that's true, what does that say about the Democrats' inability to beat someone so manifestly horrible?

My guess is that they'll call for the party to push further Left and get more radical, like they called for after losing the 2002 elections so badly.  Never will it occur to them that they are out of step with the American polity.  The ones who do realize this will develop an intense hatred of America in response.  Hopefully they'll leave to a "sane" country where people agree with them.

I started posting there today.  I think I'm on the way to getting locked.  My thing has been to post the most wild-ass left-wing garbage.  I've called the President and VP everything short of cannibal child molesters, I've said AG Ashcroft is using the AWB Sunset to start right wing death squads and then conspire with Diebold to kill Democrats.  I posted that Rupert Murdoch is a greater threat to America than BinLaden getting an a-bomb AND I RECEIVED A POSITIVE REPLY TO THAT ONE WELCOMING ME TO THE BOARD.

I think you're right on the money with that statement.  "Back in the day" it was unheard of to have Republicans in office down South.  Now you have Repubs all over the place.   Why?  Because of the same reasons you may start to see re-emerge.  The old Dems. became too liberal and the conservative Dems just couldn't blindly follow.  So you ended up with a slowly but certain shift of Dem/Repub offices being held.

Now that the Left is becoming insanely extreme, I believe we'll start seeing more Sen. Miller types crossing the aisle.  I look forward to the future as having more choice.  And when there's more logical choices you end up weakening not only the lesser party but the dominant one as well.  The strong may just be strong because many of their members have little other choice - can't be an extremist - can't support Libertarians (lost vote) might as well go with the big guys.

So I say if the Dems fall, you'll have a weakening of the Republican party also (on the grounds that you'll have inbetween parties).

When Bush wins BIG in November, the Democratic Party is going to have to step back and take a HARD look at itself.  It 's members are going to have to make a choice whether or not to continue the slide into the political abyss or to blow up their party and start over.

Based on the current consituency of their party now, I don't think this is possible.  They really believe that they are in the majority.  They really believe that they are "moderates" in the political center.  They REALLY believe in class warfare, special "rights" for those on the edges of the weird universe, wealth redistribution, high taxes, and  the socialist mantra, taught to them in their college classes, at their union hall meetings and in the gay bars.

They just can't bring themselves to return to the party of Harry Truman or JFK.  Not yet anyway.  They seized power fully in 1972 and they don't seem ready to compromise yet.  Some in the leadership recognize the problem, but those ideologues in the trenches do not.  They still think they "wuz robbed!" in 2000.  What they fail to remember is the revolution that began in 1994 and has continued to today.  The ONLY way Clinton was able to win was because he lied when he declared himself to be a "New Democrats"; that he would govern from the "center"...RIGHT!  If this election is at all close, they will contest it by claiming that Blacks were disenfranchised and the voting machines were rigged.  If, as I suspect, it is a blowout, they'll just go home and drown their sorrows.

We can expect some real crazy shit after the election.  Watch out for Articles of Impeachment to be introduced by Miz Pelosi or her surrogates.  Won't go anywhere...it's just their way of making a statement.

Hillary is their last best chance to push socialism on America.  I think if she loses in '08, then the Democrats will finally see the handwriting on the wall and try to reform their partty.  If on the other hand, Hillary wins, we can expect another temporary resurrection of socialism in America.  Won't last though...the country is headed down the other path...slowly...but steadily, we are becoming more conservative all the time.

The irony is that Kerry probably did beat his first wife.  There's a reason his divorce records have remained sealed.....
