My wife is looking to "decorate" it.

Any ideas??

HELL NO!!!  You advertise it, you eventually lose it.  I don't buy show peices, shiny/reflective guns, and I'm damn sure dont advertise what I have.  I've had the same roomate for 8 months he has seen 2 of my 8 guns in the house twice a peice.

In my office I have a Honduran Mahogany display case that I built .

Dovetail joints
1/8 tempered glass
Gas lifts on both sides (Unlock and give a slight lift and it smoothly swings up)
Brass keyed lock
Specialized hanging system (will not come off the wall without a three step process), same hangers they use in the Met Museum of Art for hanging pictures.
Plastic coated gun L hangers that do not react with the oiled surface of a gun.

ETA - this was BEFORE I lost all my guns in a boating accident

Col. Jeff Cooper once said, "Displaying firearms invites three kinds of people that you don't want."

I'll let you guess the three types.

The only type I would ever display would be of the flintlock/musket variety.

Anything else is asking for trouble.

xanadu - where do you work that you get to keep that up on a wall? Or do you mean your home office?

You should put a  "in case or emergencies, commies, or liberals, break glass" plaque underneath.

I would love to display some of my guns..I consider them to be works of art..I have some real beautys, but I have teenasses, and such hanging around...An oldtimer once told me never advertise.. A frind of mine had some really nice brownings handed down to him from grandpa in a display case...He sold a car in the paper and folks came in to sign papers ...Few days later someone broke in and {poof} no more pretty's..O yeah and the check bounced to!!!
