F DST! If I wanted to play with clocks twice a year, I want to get paid for it!

DST is so stupid. If you need more daylight to do your job, get up earlier.
Link Posted: 3/14/2011 4:12:50 AM EST
I love it. I can stay out and hike/play in the woods longer without it getting dark!
Link Posted: 3/14/2011 4:12:51 AM EST

A seething hatred have I for DST and all those who support it.
Link Posted: 3/14/2011 4:15:15 AM EST
I don't love it or hate it. I just wish we'd pick one time standard and stick with it. Changing it forwards or backwards every six months is stupid, imo.
Link Posted: 3/14/2011 4:18:25 AM EST
We had this discussion already when the clocks turned back; to hell with standard time. Why the fuck would you want it to get dark at 6:15pm everyday?
Link Posted: 3/14/2011 4:18:56 AM EST
pain in the butt
Link Posted: 3/14/2011 4:19:40 AM EST
I think its stupid.
Link Posted: 3/14/2011 4:21:03 AM EST
I hate it with a passion that burns hotter than 1,000 suns.
Link Posted: 3/14/2011 4:23:11 AM EST
I despise it and wish we were all on simple 24 hr non-changing GMT.

I had to work an extra hour in the fall and worked an hour less yesterday. It doesn't do much anyways.

I would like DST all year long. Our statehouse is considering a bill to do that this year.

because I prefer the sunrise at 6:15 AM

Daylight savings time is fucking idiotic. Indiana didn't change times until about five years ago. I had always just assumed the rest of the country would eventually pull its head out of its ass and stop screwing around with their clocks. So what happens? Fucking Indiana legislature passed daylight savings time while I was away at college in order to match the rest of the U.S.
Link Posted: 3/14/2011 4:42:37 AM EST
Pick one time or the other and stick to it!
Link Posted: 3/14/2011 4:45:59 AM EST
I don't hate it, minor inconvenience.

Read here the letter Ben Franklin wrote initially presenting the idea;

http://www.webexhibits.org/daylightsaving/franklin3.html

...This event has given rise in my mind to several serious and important reflections. I considered that, if I had not been awakened so early in the morning, I should have slept six hours longer by the light of the sun, and in exchange have lived six hours the following night by candle-light; and, the latter being a much more expensive light than the former, my love of economy induced me to muster up what little arithmetic I was master of, and to make some calculations, which I shall give you, after observing that utility is, in my opinion the test of value in matters of invention, and that a discovery which can be applied to no use, or is not good for something, is good for nothing.

When I was self employed I didnt care for it , if I wanted to have more evening I woke up earlier and got my work done . Now that Im working for a company thats on a 8-1630 schedule I like DST .
Link Posted: 3/14/2011 7:37:19 AM EST
I personally hate it. I think we should stick to one time.
Link Posted: 3/14/2011 7:44:27 AM EST
I hate "standard" time and wish we could stay on DST year round.

I dont get off work till 5 and need more daylight to get everything done at home that I need to do.
Link Posted: 3/14/2011 7:44:55 AM EST
I think it's dumb.
Link Posted: 3/14/2011 7:48:23 AM EST
It would be nice to stay on it year round

+ 87 infinities.

Ben Franklin was 1 of the most brilliant men ever to walk the earth, but he fucked this up royally.

I love it. I wish we were on DST in the winter. It starts getting dark at 4:30 in the winter here, so I drive to work in the dark and come home in the dark. At least now, I have another hour of sunshine after work.

Without DST, the sun would rise here at 5:30 AM in the summer, NO THANKS!
Link Posted: 3/14/2011 7:55:23 AM EST
I still don't get the purpose of it. I vote we just leave the clocks alone.
Link Posted: 3/14/2011 7:56:23 AM EST
I love it! And I wait for it every year.
I also think it is named wrong, with the summer months should be 'regular' time and winter months as "daylight wasting time". I work from early morning through the day and I LOVE having 2~3~4hrs of daylight in the evenings.
I also love that GWB made the start date earlier in the spring, but I do think it lasts about two weeks too long in the fall.

curiously, to me, most of the people I hear that hate it are people who don't understand it or are not aware of it until its happened and they get caught forgetting - and that suddenly makes them 'hate it'.

I can't seem to dredge any care from Giveafuckbay when it comes to DST.

It's an hour, people. Frankly, I like when it's light outside until 10 PM––that means more time to trail ride, kneeboard, shoot and other general asshattery before we must turn to artificial illumination.

FWIW, I was on time to work yesterday.

its the greatest thing since nuclear energy.

When Im in charge of the world, there are no timezones, no DST, no AM or PM........just Coordinated Universal Time.

If you love the change of the start date you obviously don't work in the IT industry. It caused no end of pain as systems, some of which aren't really supported any more, had to be patched to support the new start date.

Pick 1, I don't care which.

Split the difference maybe.

Whatever, just quit changing it back and forth.
Link Posted: 3/14/2011 8:01:24 AM EST
I like it. I love it when the ancient farmers around here weep and wail about it. I wish they would make it year-round.

I'd prefer to be on DST year-round.

I love it and look forward to it every year.... especially now that it comes earlier in the year.

I give it 5 Dancing Bananas out of 5

The day I hate most... is when we turn the clocks back (but at least it comes later now).

Same here. I rather it be light later in the day when I'm off work and can actually do things.

I think it is completely retarded.

Saturday I woke up @ 6am, the sun was out. Sunday I wake up at the same time and it is still dark out. Explain how this saves daylight?

But, but, its for the farmers and people who need the sunlight to do work? Yeah maybe a 100 years ago.

Link Posted: 3/14/2011 8:19:57 AM EST
I like it. I don't like changing in March, go back to April like we used to.
Link Posted: 3/14/2011 8:23:18 AM EST
I don't really care either way, but I like more daylight during the time I have to fun stuff instead of burning it all away while I am at work.
Link Posted: 3/14/2011 8:25:09 AM EST
They should leave it DST all year round.
Link Posted: 3/14/2011 8:26:09 AM EST
For those of us who like to get off our fat asses and exercise outdoors after work, DST is very good. It should be standard year round.

It doesn't save daylight. It removes it from the beginning of the day, adds it to the end.

Daylight is a good thing, in my book. I don't give a shit if it's dark when I drive to work, but I do like having ample daylight after my 7-3 shift.

I've been saying, for years now, that I'm going to invent the time machine so I can go back and have a talk with Ben about that particular idea.......

Keep DST year round
