Found a decent deal on a 610, and am thinking on jumping on it it, since this is America and we can.

I like the idea, first off, that the 610 has moar megapixels, which I think would be handy for Friday night high school football games.

But what I'm really interested in, is the low light performance "that" much better than the 700, about the same, or, just slightly better?

I really like my 700, but I always have the "itch" to keep upgrading. And I think for high school football games, it would be better than the 700.

Google is your friend. I have a D610 and am not a pro by any means. From what this says the 610 is the way to go.

I've googled it, but have not come across anything that specifically compares how much better the low light capability of the 610 is vs the 700. Friday night hs football games r demanding to shoot and just trying to figure out how the 610 pics look with the ISO cranked up vs the 700.

Pixel count is not the ultimate criterion for a good photo-senor. I am not familiar with either the 610 or 700 since I am APS-C/DX person, but in the Nikon D7200(24MP) vs the D7500(20MP), the D7500 has less pixels, but its low-light capabilities is way greater because they can have bigger photo-diodes.

Based on what I've heard from sports shooters, I think you will need at least a D4 for night, high school football. And even then, it will be a challenge. Lighting in those stadiums is crap.

I bet the guys in the sports section on the FM forum, would be able to answer this question, though.
