Does anyone know what the current issue gas mask is?  What does it look like?  I just had a buddy give me one that he had sitting around.  He said he would never use it so he gave it to me.  It has a removable clear lens, drinking tube, mic for a radio, its made of grey rubber, you can mount the filter on either side, etc.  Anyone know what I have?

Just kidding. I have no idea what the current issue is. M9 or something? Important for most people to keep in mind that a gasmask/chem suit is fine for ONE chemical attack. But certain agents (Mustard comes to mind) have a corrosive effect on protective gear. I might be wrong. Maybe it was Hydrogen cyanide...

The MCU-2P is an excellent mask for a US-issue. The best, IMO, is the M-95 with the M-95 filter. After that, the Canadian C4 and the MCU-2P are tied. The M40 and M17A2's are farther behind.

Get good M-95 filters for your MCU as these rae the ONLY ONES rated to protect against small viruses like Smallpox. Other filters will let them in as they don't have microfiltration.
