14" screen? You clearly didn't measure. Looks about 4" here...

older printers use parallel ports.  if you got a newer printer is uses USB.  so you will be fine

Where did you find this deal?

note:

as long as you're not using it for gaming it will be fine.
very few laptops these days are powerful enough to handle the hardware demands of new games.

oh, and the deal is here:

Office Depot

Yeah, won't be used for gaming (that's what my desktop is for ).  Mainly low-tech multimedia stuff for class/work.

I got the Compaq V2111Z, so it's close to yours, I like it so far.

One thing you have to watch out for is the video card might share the bus memory.  My laptop has 512mb DDR and a 128mb video card, but they share it, so in reality I have 384mb of memory

I've got a HP laptop with the 14" wide screen.  Mine was a little bit lot more but I wanted a lot more features.

I like my HP laptop.  It'll do you good.

Cool.  I go to a community college, more specifically Moraine Valley, which is near Chicago.

ETA=Can't tell you much about HP's laptops, I've only had experience with an IBM thinkpad.  Good luck with the HP though(and I mean it in a good way)

Warranty?

If you are going to be lugging it around campus and depend on it for school work, I would strongly recommend getting the Accidental Damage Protection Plan.

Great price.

I may not be a big fan of HP/Compaq, but if it's only going to be used for browsing online, typing up papers, etc... then why not?

You really should be sure to get decent anti virus software and a pop up blocker.  Keeping a Compaq/HP in working order is all about prevention.  So make sure your computer is wearing protection before it goes sticking its browser around the internet!

Disposible laptop. It will serve you well then you chuck and buy a new one.  Its power is kind of limited but for most applications it should be fine.  You might want to get some more RAM.

I need more info, vid card, sound card, processor, etc...

Currently I am running a 3.2 Ghz, 1 GiG Dual Channel DDR ram, 128 mb ATI vid card monster.
And yes.... it fucking rocks.

I just bought one of these laptops and I like it. That's a good price on it.

That being said, it needs a memory upgrade badly. The memory that they put in it is DDR333 and not the DDR400 that the system, at least the turion ones, are capable of. I just replaced the memory w/ 1gb ddr400 from newegg for $120.
