Our medical campus has a policy of notifying students and employees of any crimes that take place on campus. Here's part of the email I just received:
At approximately 5:30 p.m. on Friday, 18 August 2006, an individual affiliated with the university was approached by two males in an old, red sports car. After asking directions, they displayed a knife and demanded her purse. The woman ran from the scene, was not followed and was not hurt. |
Granted, it's pretty hot down here in Texas, but you have to be fairly lazy when you can't even step out of the air conditioning to take a woman's purse. I guess stupidity and laziness have a way of keeping the crime they create in check.
Of course, what pisses me off is that, even here in Texas, the woman can't legally carry a CCW to defend herself. Being that the campus is made up of several hospitals and a medical school, you'd probably be doubly screwed if caught carrying.
