Me? I had some transgressions in my youth and now they are sealed records. I had a DUI expunged from 2003. Some real nasty family law crap and BS. along with a 5 figure CS levy that I paid lump sum.
My Daughter is as Bat shit Crazy as her Mom.
Bottom line even though all that shit was like over a decade ago and I have been an upstanding citizen since than. I don't think the Fuck Ups of my youth would offset my more recent accomplishments in a situation say as running for congress.
Can you withstand a muckraking of your past to run for an office position?

I think that with all the bitching and the fact a vote is a vote that can be offset by a retard the actual path to change, even if in a small way would be to start being really politically active. Meaning running for school board or city council and a bigger field say congress?

I would really consider running for local, county or state but too much risk unfortunately.

made lotsa of money off .mil and .gov contracts over the last decade. I see some really scary shit that I think more than voting is a solution. I want to run for public office in my "winter years" to maybe make a change bigger than a single vote.

Many people post things like FBHO & FEH which I do too, but maybe it's time for me to do something beyond just voting?

Stewart Mills is stepping up and doing that. Running for one of MN's congressional seats. He's a good guy, hope he wins. Not in my district, but I'd vote for him in a heartbeat if he was. Start making getting involved and make some connections. You'll need guidance and support, but I'm sure you're savvy enough to figure that out.

I know posting in GD results in crass and flippant comments...no worries my skin is saddle leather thick. I have work that I love (8 years in Iraq and the Stan) and headed back soon. I really did some stupid shit in my youth and even some stupid shit as an adult.

I have thought more and more about public office, not to make money as I have tha,t but to be the burr in SOP and be and speak friggen honestly. If I get shot down then so be it.

I'm tired of bitching and being one (1) vote that can be offset by Latiqua.

I was hoping that maybe some would endorse or criticize with real world experience running for a local (county) position.

Now here's why I wouldn't make a good candidate. I believe that everyone should earn their own way, take responsibility for their own actions, and quit asking for fucking handouts.

I've was elected to a school board twice.

I'd rather scoop shit, & I have nothing in my past I'm afraid of anybody knowing. Scooping poop is easier work. Cleaner & doesn't smell near as bad. You can wash shit off. You can't get rid of the stench of even small scale politics.

Political office of any kind is no place for a rational thinking person. Politics don't work in a rational manner & no amount of persuading on your part can change that fact.
