I've been eyeing a 4" S&W 19-2 in .357 that's for sale locally. They're asking $560. Fo or no?

That's probably as good of a price as you'll see on one in decent shape anymore. They're getting a little expensive.

ETA- you can find them cheaper, just get ready to look for a while.

K frame.  If you'll be shooting it much, I would go for something beefier.

Older Smiths are best Smiths.....keep that firmly in mind OP. You're on the right trail.

For that price you can still buy a new or like new Security Six.

Buy it.  Don't shoot lightweight full power loads out of it.  It was made for 158 grain lead

I like my Security Sixes.

Rugers are more durable than S&W items of comparable type, pretty much across the board.

They are very simple to take down in comparison to the S&W.

If it is your intention to shoot the Rem/Fed/Win 125 magnum loads, keep looking. Otherwise, the 19-2 can be an excellent handgun. I'd certainly not turn it down.

If it's going to be your one and only, a 686 is a much better choice.
