Looking for a cheap house, we have been renting for my entire marriage due to moving several times.   I have the money to buy and was looking in the 100k range and want a deal.   Any sources stick out to learn about this, that are particularly good?  It's in the north texas area if that helps.

Hey there. Find a local realtor that knows the area you want to live in. Interview a bunch until you find one that is a straight shooter. A lot of foreclosed homes (but not all) will most likely be money pits of some form. Most likely, they have been vacant for some time. They may have either obvious or undisclosed issues that aren't apparent. Find a good (reputable) building inspector before you place any offers on homes. That way, when you find a property you are interested in, you can call him up and get things going faster.

That, indeed.

When I bought my home, I had a very good realtor.  He watched EVERYTHING that came on the market, the minute that it did.  One day he called up, and said "Hey, here's an address.   Get over there NOW."  Sure enough, terrific deal on a good house, much better than I'd seen in months of looking, so I made an offer on the spot.
