Lately, I have seen numerous topics deleted or locked by the moderator here and what gets me those topics don't contain anything offensive. Also, this being a General Discussion forum in which we agree to talk about everything in our lives besides just AR15s, why do members here feel they need to tell the moderator in their post to delete their post if it is off topic? Nothing should be off topic here besides excessive cussing and nudity. If posts here are locked or deleted because they create a little stir-up or something, let it be. Don't turn this board in some type of Big Brother run community.

What type of community of freedom loving people like us are in if someone else decides when our discussion is done. It is like we are children and our daddy told us to shut up because he doesn't want to hear us anymore. Language and pornography should be moderated, not content that a moderator finds uninteresting or offensive to only himself.

Oh! Okay Mr. WhoMe? Who is WhoMe? Are you Kuiper's right hand man? His "associate" or just a little kid tattle-tailing? Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe this board does need moderation. [;D]

I think he is agreeing with you. Gotta be careful how you type things. It can be confusing to understand sometimes

I know, I know. I'm jusy playin' with you guys. But I still think Kuiper should lighten up on his moderating tactics a bit.

So this is how it works, huh? Everyone complains about AntiUSSA's moderation, then when he's not here anymore you guys need to pick on somebody new? I think Kuiper does a fine job, and a consistently fine job at that. If he's locking something, I have trust in his judgement. With all the nonsense going on here lately, there may be more going on than meets the eye. We're all trying to work together to keep this place nice, and sometimes it's not very easy. If we could all just follow the rules, moderation would be UNNECESSARY.

Treetop, I assure you the LAST thing I want to do is cause trouble. My comment referred to a specific "lock" earlier this evening on a topic that had 6 pages of posts and was only locked due to his deciding it "had run its course." It was a graphic execution video clip with a strong warning/link, etc. which I believe followed the guidelines. I did not view it, but found the comments interesting. It lead to a discussion regarding war and such. Common theme around here. I certainly agree there has been much ugliness of various sorts. Certainly most of us agree that the mods are great and almost overly fair. No one expects perfection, especially from such a tough job. It would be impossible to make everyone happy. Again, no offense/troublemaking intended. [:D]

I'm listening. And understanding. I haven't looked at the thread in question, I guess I passed over it. Kuiper has locked a couple of my threads on the old board [specifically "Night Crew" 1&2] for bandwidth reasons since they got too large. Perhaps his reasoning was the same here, or maybe it was a different reason. Without being him, I can't tell you why the thread was locked for sure, but like I said I trust his judgement. It looks like all the mods have been doing some house cleaning here. Feel free to e-mail Kuiper if you don't understand something he did. I'm sure he'd be happy to explain. [:)]

And here I thought moderators were omnipotent and would be able to read minds, leap tall buildings, and catch a bullet with their hands.[;)]

This is exactly what is wrong with our society nowadays. Strict enforcement of the rule of law is always at its most after an incident occurs. Example: somebody shoots up a school....... the antis yell blood......the politicians ride the issues and proposes tougher laws.......the law-abiding gun owners suffer the after effect. Is this not similar to: some of the members here acting like idiots posting stuff which is either inappropriate or copyrighted....... the other members react.......flame wars resulted.......admin gets tough on moderators to do their job.......moderators slash and burn through whatever "they" find offensive.......all the law-abiding gun owners suffer the after effect. I for one think that the moderators are doing a job with an unholy responsibility of balancing what is right with what is not permitted. Sometimes posts can be "right and permitted", sometimes it can be right and not permitted, it can be wrong and permitted or wrong and not permitted. The first and the last example is easy but for the two in between, who draws the line?? I agree with some that Kuiper has been quite consistent in moderating this board but I certainly hope that his new title/role will not get to his head, because if it does......(we have seen this before)

The video thread was indeed handled very well by the members here. Perhaps I closed it too soon, but I made a decision at that time. No more new comment/insights were added. Obviously you cant please them all. But I do ask you to trust me that being a member here since '98 does give you some insight in internet discussions and where they are heading. As said before, if you have questions regarding a thread. Please enclose the URL. I can be wrong too, and will stand corrected if need be. Kuiper
