So, I was thinkin' about this whole "muh heritage" vs. "muh Jim Crow" thing and antifa's efforts to remove statues of Confederate War Heros.

The solution is obvious.  At every Confederate statute, put up a statue of a slave in chains.  Then put up a sign that states that this Confederate Soldier fought to support a democratically elected government founded on the principal of human chattel slavery.

Antifa is happy because it puts those monuments is perspective, while the "muh heritage" crowd is happy because we get the "history" of keeping the statues, etc....

You could also put up a plaque with the story of how other tribes captured others and sold them into slavery...... and how Arabs were involved in the trade........ and still you'd not satisfy antifa

Head knocked off Confederate soldier statue in Ohio cemetery
By WANE Staff Reports Published: August 22, 2017, 5:37 pm

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Police say a Confederate soldier statue at a cemetery in Ohio has been damaged by vandals who took its head.

Columbus police say vandals appear to have climbed on an arched memorial at Camp Chase Confederate Cemetery and toppled the statue atop the monument to the ground.

The soldier’s head and hat were knocked off. Police say the vandals took the head but left the hat.

Police say the vandalism occurred early Tuesday at the cemetery where around 2,000 soldiers are buried.

Confederate statues around the country have been targeted in the weeks following a white-nationalist rally to protest the removal of a statue of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee in Charlottesville, Virginia. A counterprotester was killed.

Police in Ohio had been monitoring the cemetery since the Aug. 12 rally.

That argument is only interesting if we were discussing statues celebrating those other people.

OP you fail to realize that most of these monuments are to those that died. Not monuments
to the war itself.

They need to put these statues in a museum before more people vandalize them imo. Otherwise we risk having pieces of history destroyed.

Even though it isn't from the prettiest/most ideal part of history, it is still history none the less.

Regardless of the sides that fought, it was still a very tragic loss of life all around.

Young men on both sides died, and not all of them had a choice in fighting.

The confederacy started drafting people, and the union soon followed.

I'm curious why there aren't more black children named after Ulysses S. Grant and William T. Sherman since the Confederacy was so super evil (disclaimer about not being able to judge past cultures by today's ethics and turning points, etc.)

And why isn't antifa tossing flower wreaths all over statues of Lincoln, or beautifying Union Civil War monuments.

Oh, it's just because they hate us. Moving on.

The Confederate monuments, statues and roads arent the reason, they are the vehicle for socialism to gain power.

If you reason through the thought process, its not hard to connect that making statues and guns disappear isn't the prize, its merely the vehicle to move the message and agenda for their control over YOU!

The players know the useful idiots will fall for the emotionally low level fruit.

We're in trouble folks.

Not every one fought for slavery.  For example the 1st and 3rd Regiments of MS were free blackmen that fought for the South.  Do you really think they fought to become slaves?  Don't be a compromising idiot.

There were no regiments of free black men that fought for the confederacy.  The Mississippi regiments you are referring to were raised after Mississippi was occupied and consisted primarily freed slaves. They fought for the Union. The names of the regiments were changed to United States Colored Infantry.

I didn't miss that.  That's why I said they fought for democratically elected governments.  I don't disrespect the bravery or grit of the men who fought for the confederacy, but I can't ignore the fact that they choose to fight for a nation founded on the principal of slavery.  Don't wash your heroes in bleach.

And that's your problem.

Looking at past history through the glasses of the 21st century.

Slavery is bad, no denying that. But to completely be unable to understand the southern economy at the time of the Civil War is where you and many people like you have this problem, and is the reason why we have this 'erasing history' problem now. On that note, none of these monuments are glorifying slavery, they are honoring the dead that fought.

Lots of nations were founded on the principal of slavery, the Confederate States were not some isolated incident.
