Dell haters notwithstanding, (I get awesome discounts through my company)

I looked all over thier site, but cant find where they will just sell a box anymore. My monitor, KB, speakers, and mouse are all less than 2 months old, so all I need is a new tower.

I never bought just a tower...

but don't do it!

Aftermarket towers are SO MUCH BETTER in terms of acoustic design, heat dissipation, and ease of use!

look around computer forums for sweet deals! Antec is a good bang for buck manufacturer.

I think he is looking for a Dell tower because the "proprietary" Dell mobo won't fit in a regular Antec or other off-the-shelf tower.

You can have my tower on my old Dell 8100 dimension (free) if you want ... I build my PCs now.

Try calling Dell on their 1/800 order line and speak with their sales reps, maybe they know something that is not listed on their website.

Im not much of a Tech guy, so I really dont know about the finer details of what im looking for, brand, slang terms, ect.
Basically, 2gig on the memory, 160 or so on the HD, Windows, Word, and a decent processer. I know that does not fill in many gaps, but thats about the extent of what I think that I need.Im not a gamer, but it would be nice to have the option.

I built a DELL online that fit those requirements, with a KB and Mouse for about $600. Can I beat that elswhere?

I think what the man means is he wants the tower AND all the stuff that goes in it.. Just not all the addon BS.

I'm pretty sure we ordered some bare machines from Dell not so long ago, but we're not dealing with their consumer division.

If your company gets some decent discounts, talk to your computer guy about calling his Dell rep for a one-off employee purchase.  If the wind is blowing from the east and the moon is in capricorn, there's a 50% chance they'll say yes.

My girlfriend bought a new Dell tower by itself about three weeks ago to replace a Gateway desktop that is slowly dying. $325, delivered, XP Pro. With a monitor, keyboard, mouse and all hte other crap it was $550 or so, but she didn't need any of that stuff.

If you want XP, act fast. I don't think I can buy a new laptop without Vista.

That is correct, I need a complete tower, just not all the extra shit such a monitor, mouse, KB, ect.

When you choose a computer on the Dell site, it will let you "Customize It!" go through those screens and eventually it will have sections for monitor, mouse, etc, just unselect those and you'll get just the tower shipped.

I think that you can deselect the monitor and other crap when you place your order online.  I bought a Dell for the wife about a year ago and received only the CPU, keyboard, and mouse.

Sure you can Dell has stated all along you can get XP throught the end of the year the links are on their pages if you want a computer with XP. I cannot imagine why anyone would want XP at this point, drivers have caught up all new Dell notebooks with Vista I have handled (including mine) are rock solid and there is no doubt Vista is more secure.

You might want to do this:

configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?c=us&cs=04&kc=6W300&l=en&oc=bdcwyfz&s=bsd

Select the Q6600 quad core processor
Comes with 2GB memory
Deselect the monitor and it is $659

There is room to grow that system in the future.

Yes you can, I am sitting from one I bought from them a couple of months ago.

I believe you can unselect a monitor, keyboard, etc, and reduce price.
