Crossing the Cape Fear headed to work on the ferry, it's a nice ride in the morning! Who has a pic of their interesting commute?

We're gonna need a bigger boat.

I was going to say you were one lucky SOB but if you were a lucky SOB you would be heading over to FF to fish instead of to work. Going past there everyday would be pure torture. I'm sorry for your shitty luck OP.

This is my drive now, if I dont leave before 5:30am.

My original commute was 1.3 miles down a neighborhood road to the office, I miss that. I briefly moved to a different city and was commuting 2.25hrs each way. Not really sure what I was thinking (woman involved). So I guess the 5:30am leave time isnt to bad.

30-40 minutes of interstate, back roads, and city traffic. I suppose it could be worse. I'd love to have a short walk instead.

Here are a few of my pics going to and from work (Queens, NY). It's 45 miles each way so 90 total a day. Doesn't sound bad except its $30 in tolls a day to go in. Traffic in the morning is not bad it I leave at 6:00am. However, coming home is a different animal. Anywhere between 1:10 - 8 Hours (longest trip so far)

Flooding on the Throggs Neck Bridge coming home::

Obvious Sign is Obvious (going to work):

Botched forecast on the way home:

You win.

I have a 3min bicycle ride to work in a town of 4K people.

I drive 144 miles round trip each day.

I try to work from the home office at least once a week (like today) but it is not always possible.

I spend 2.5 hours behind the wheel each day. I'm sure it's far from the worse commute, but it sucks for sure. I think I calculated it out to being on the road for 27 days of the year, almost 1/12 of my life behind the wheel

It's been getting tougher to do ever since our 2 year old was born. With another one on the way something has to change before I miss them growing up

Nothing exciting on my drive to work. I only drive 5 miles a day total for work. Shit, I leased a truck back in August and I only just hit 2000 miles this morning.

16 mile round trip to work and back. Takes about 10 minutes in the morning, as I get there before any of the a.m. traffic hits the roads.

I work in a brewery

yea, I have to cross the skyway couple times a month, very cool in the morning with the sunrise.
Link Posted: 1/20/2015 9:09:50 AM EST
28 to 33 minutes to work, mostly suburban traffic, I-95, state highway in poor repair, then the damned gate backups because people can't figure out how to pull out their ID while they're waiting for 11 minutes to get to the gate, and finally, the sub-human 30mph speed limit to get to my building, 4 miles from the gate.

Going home is usually 30 to 35 minutes of moderate traffic. But if I leave too late, 4:30pm is too late, I'll be in the car for 45 minutes or more.

I miss having a 12 minute commute, it changed a lot 'round here when we got an additional 15k jobs moved in.

So, yeah, I don't. Sometimes the sky is pretty, and I can get a couple HF net check-ins though.
Link Posted: 1/20/2015 9:10:34 AM EST
I'd say my wife has the best commute to work. less than 2 miles down the road through a small country village. I have to drive through the fucking city.
Link Posted: 1/20/2015 9:22:33 AM EST
Best would be short. I used to live 2.1 miles from where I worked. I could go from my desk on the third floor to my couch in as little as 9 minutes.

Now I live 18 miles away, and it takes about 30 minutes. I'll be moving next month, and I'll be about 8 miles away, which will drop my commute time to 10-15 minutes one-way. I'm happy about that.
Link Posted: 1/20/2015 9:31:18 AM EST
my new commute is 6.4 miles, 9 minutes without traffic, which is about right for the morning drive, right at 15 minutes from sitting in the car to sitting down at my desk. drive home is not as good, but still only about 20 minutes with traffic. not bad compared to the 30min in/hour plus home at the old house.
Link Posted: 1/20/2015 9:32:39 AM EST
My "commute" is from my front door to my work truck. The day starts when my ass hits the seat.

I have two commutes. Either zero to the home office or 1.5 hours to the office in a major metro area. Guess which one I prefer?

15 minute drive through scenic New England landscapes, country road, no traffic. Better when I'm on my motorcycle, some days I take dirt roads.
Link Posted: 1/20/2015 9:53:01 AM EST
39 degrees F
10-lane rush hour traffic, everybody fighting to get to work by 9.
600 cc Sportbike
70-80 mph cruising speeds
20 miles

Quite exhilarating.

So what's biting right now? I need a fishing trip in a bad way. I might have to head down for a weekend of fishing the fort before spring.

From my bed to the computer is just feet, takes a few seconds and I am at work.
Sometimes I just lay in bed and work from my Ipad so there is no commute.

OP, how do you enjoy that Alpine surround system in your Dodge? I rather enjoy mine, find that I hear a lot of shit I used to miss.
Link Posted: 1/20/2015 10:28:38 AM EST
The short way to work is only about 300 yds. Takes about 7 or 8 minutes to walk it. Winding up the steep side of a mesa. Takes the same amount of time to drive the mile and a half around the mesa.

So I generally walk the mile and a half. At night, along a pave county road. It's very peaceful and beautiful when there aren't any clouds to hide the stars. Takes about 30 minutes.

I then walk another route home. Along to top of the mesa and can watch the sun rise. Sidewalk the entire route. Two miles and takes about 40 minutes.

I walk across my hallway and boom, I'm at work.

Link Posted: 1/20/2015 10:31:47 AM EST
I roll out of bed and walk to the other corner of the room and boom I'm at work. Sometimes I just roll over and grab my iPad and start the days emails without even getting out of bed.

20 feet for me so less than a minute unless I lack coffee. Then it takes a lot longer.

About 4 minutes and 2 miles with 3 signals. On the plus side if I go shooting after work I am about a 1/4 mile from where we shoot. Just past the legal limit of 1000'

I ride my road bike to work about four days a week. I take this route on the way there. On the way back I just take a more direct 17 mile straight shot.
