I live in colorado and have a weapon posted on Armslist. I just recived an email and this guy wants to buy my gun. I told him we will have to do a Transfer through a FFL dealer to keep it legal and safe. The guy replis back saying he is a retired navy vet with a DD214??? which according to him means that he does not need to do a transfer. I think its a little fishy. Possibly an ATF agent trying to bust me. Im new to this forum so any help will be great!

Thank you!

After July 1, 2013, all firearm sales must have a background check in Colorado.  No private sales without a background check.

There are exceptions for Curio & Relic classified firearms.  There is NO exception for retired military.

There are a lot of very bizarre beliefs out there about the new laws that took effect on July 1, 2013 in Colorado.

You don't say, but if the 2 of you live in the same county and that is one of the 56 counties where the sheriffs are suing to throw out that law then meet him some where and sell it to him.  Those county sheriffs have all said that they will not try to enforce an unenforceable law.
For that matter if you live in one of those counties and he lives in one of the half dozen that say they will enforce the law sell it to him anyway, he just has to come to your county to get it.  His home county has no jurisdiction!
I'm getting ready to advertise some guns and am not worried about the assinine stupid law since my sheriff has said No enforcement.  I do not live inside any city limits so the one I have to obey is my sheriff.
