This article appears in the japantoday website quoting the Kyodo (Japan) News Service: U.S. removing al Qaeda fingers for DNA analysis Sunday, December 23, 2001 at 18:00 JST LONDON — U.S. special forces are cutting off the fingers of dead al-Qaida fighters in the mountains of eastern Afghanistan to clarify through DNA analysis whether accused terrorist Osama bin Laden died in the battle of Tora Bora, The Sunday Times reported. In a dispatch from Tora Bora, the newspaper reported that the fingers will be turned over to the FBI for DNA analysis to clarify whether bin Laden died in the battle. U.S. officials have reportedly already collected DNA samples from members of bin Laden's family to check for a match, it said. I was just going to ask what's suddenly gone wrong with ears?? I'll bet Osama "ears' will bring a premium on the Saudi "ear Market!"

Why not? Might be all that's left of some bodies after the US bombing.

Now I am all for hacking off fingers as much as the next guy but, wouldn't hair samples work just fine?

Hair samples? Why not a blood smear? This ain't 'Murder She Wrote'! Keep it simple! Also, it allows for the possibility of obtaining fingerprints. Eric The(Sassy)Hun[>]:)]

Anyone who runs, is a terrorist. Anyone who stands still, is a well disciplined terrorist. [chainsaw]

Perhaps utilizing the finger gives labs a choice of tissues for analysis. You are getting skin, fingernail, flesh and bone.

And suddenly there's something wrong with ear prints ?? "Ears" be more symbolic - ears be better. You ever hear of a necklace made of dried fingers ?? Why I wouldn't wear a dried finger necklace to even Hitlary's inaguration. Besides, you're supposed to be a capitalist - you ever hear of a market for "dried fingers?" No of course not but the world-market for dried ears be BIG.

Couldn't we cut their dicks off and use them for DNA analysis instead? Oops...sorry answered my own question..... Not enough material there for a good sample.

They most likely have OBL's fingerprints on file as well. His finger with the intact prints and the DNA would be positive proof. Just my speculation. I hope for the sake of the DNA technicians that they are only using the fingers from their right hands.
