6, simply because it allows me to set the stock closer to what may be an optimal position.
Ultimately it doesnt matter. I'm a pretty "average" fella and havent found a stock that doesnt work for me as long as its a modern stock. Some of the old C&R stuff is a bit.....odd......and leaves something to be desired though.

I had a 4-position, and made it a 3.

Fully extended for A1 length, one notch in for heavy winter clothing or so my buddys' wives and kids can shoot it, and fully collapsed.

But ther eis no real difference between the two.. I mean fully extended and fully collapsed are the same length as each other right?

Nope.

Well, at least mine aren't.

ETA just measured the two. The six position extends a full 31mm's longer.

I want one that works like a pipe clamp, so it's variable. Literally endless positions!

Ya know, I don't ever remember shooting my CAR-15 (2 positions: open and closed) and thinking "God this stock is too damn long" and I got it when I was about 14.

mine have 2 positions I have never had a reason to want anything else.

BUT question for you guys, doesn't your cheek/firing position change when changing positions on stocks and wouldn't that effect your shots?

I shoot with it in the third (of four) positions. I'm a big guy but it just feels better to me.

I also like to store it for transport in as small a package as possible.

4 or 6 is really doesn't matter at the end of the day, Just dont use it is past the first position, or you will look like a goof

Look at the quick release for a Razor scooter handlebar-this would do the job just fine!
