Call the State of New Jersey firearms department and ask. They might even have a web site on firearms which discusses inheritance.

Tell him to take the pistol, place it carefully inside a 20' panel truck, surrounded by his belongings and household furnishings, and drive slowly and carefully out of New Jersey...and don't go back.
Safest course of action, all things considered. |

About the ONLY good thing about NJ gun laws is ---> THE Loophole!
If the father willed his son the firearm (get creative here...), and the son is qualified to own a firearm (ie: no criminal background, etc..), the son can simply take the gun home ! |
