I have thought about doing it for a while.

Any advice for those that actually do it?

It can be alot of fun, but not unlike here there can be alot of personalites and finding a like minded group to do it with can make a big differance. If you enjoy history it can be neat, and you get to know alot of good people. The best thing to do is find one close and go, talk to some people and you will get a feel for it. Most of the time you can borrow enough stuff to do it for a day or two to see if it is something you are into. There is a small investment with stuff but it is not to bad and will usually last awhile. There is also infantry (Marching) Artillery (boom) and Calvary (horses). If you like to drill and march go infantry, if you like the boom (and who the heck don't) find an artillery group and shoot the big guns. We have six cannons and will field at least three any given time. If you need more info, contact me.
