My wife and I were just watching a CNN report on the standoff at the church of the nativity. It shows very clearly a balloon tethered over the scene. It looks like a WWII barrage balloon.
Does anyone know what it is for?
All I could come up with was....
A) A radio antennae for the PLO terrorists.....In which case why has it not been shot down.
B) An observation platform for the IDF with Cameras etc.
I choose (b).
If I were running the show, it would be:
(c) marker for artillery, rockets, etc.

Now-now fellas...
...we can't be destroying an ancient (and holy) Church just because some 200 jagoffs are holed-up in there.
Its just a simple barricaded-person situation. Starve them out.
