 The Iron Lady got mad once & opened a can of whoop ass. Venezuela is in that neighborhood & had a front row seat to the shitstorm you'd think they would understand first hand just how inept thier .mil really is. Most (if not all) of the people on the Falkland Islands are English in traditions, language, and loyalty. British claim to the island is pretty strong.

Back in '82 the Argie conscripts got a lesson in 'WTF !'. They were told that they were on a great mission to liberate argentine citizens being held against their will by the colonial British. Then they come on shore to a less than rousing welcome from all the BRITISH residents. There are no Argies LIVING there. Only dead ones led to an early and useless death by the junta trying to deflect the public gaze from the domestic problems. The argie air forces fought bravely and well.
That's all Chubby is doing. Getting his people to look outward instead of the at mess he is making of their country. rj |

The Brits would probably love to give the Falklands to the argies and have actually tried. There is this thing called public opinion. The public in Britain herself and the public on the Falklands. Both raise up a tremendous cry if there is even a hint of handing over sovereignty.

I heard that word frequently when I spent time in England. It isn't "nice" but it also doesn't seem to be nearly as bad as the N-bomb. You'd be amazed at some of the minor language differences that will get you into trouble over there  .- BG |

The British are the biggest sheeple to be found. Their serious ongoing attemps to ban such dangerous things like BB guns and kitchen knives are proof of this. The only credit I give them is that they have a very good military and are not afriad to stick it out. Other than that, their politics would make Hillary Clinton look more to the right than most elected Tory party member to date.
Even the french design better weapons than the British do

You need to read the article that was in the Smithsonian Magazine last month or the one before. They paint a more realist picture of what is actually happening down there . Disidents disappearing or being beaten up or jailed on trumped up charges. The upper class and educated leaving in droves [ heading for Miami ]. Businesses being taken over by the government. State run businesses being run my Chubby cronies [ skimming profits ]. Typical 3rd world bs. Local libraries probably have the back issues or maybe smithsonianmag.com rj |
