As a devout Christian and staunch Conservative, I've often wondered why the two appear to be linked. Don't get me wrong, I know that there are some relatively libtarded Christians (John Kerry and his band of merry men). In the UK, the detractors of the Conservative party refer to the Church of England/Scotland as "the Conservative party at pray". It's the same in the US. Conservatism is a political ideology practiced mostly by the faithful. The so-called "Christian right" (which I'm proud to be a part of) are Bush's biggest ally and loyal voting-bloc.
What is it that predisposes us Christians towards voting Conservatively? Is it because the hatred of economic slavery (socialism) is entrenched in our faith? Is it because the free market is a more natural system -under God- than answering to some Communist dictator? What's your opinions on this?
Furthermore. The gay lifestyle: Why is it that homosexuals appear to be predisposed towards liberal/socialist tendancies? Almost every gay guy I know is a member of the Communist party at my University. The only gay Conservative I've ever spoken to is one of my internet buddies. He's a devout Christian, he believes in "neoconservative" ideals and he's in the Navy (let the villiage people songs sing themselves), however this guy is CELIBATE (because he's Christian...Kind of a "self hating" gay) so that doesn't particularly count.
