I have a new Savage FCP-SR and the Choate isn't fitting right. The back of the receiver will not seat flush on the stock and there is a gap as pictured. What you can't see is that springs are exposed. It is frustrating. Any thoughts?

Common with the Choate stock. It will shoot better than it looks

proper stock model for the screw spacing measurement on your rifle?   I know they changed it at some point but is years since I had a model 10

Looks like it fits better than my Choate MP5K-PDW folding stock. That thing is wobbly as hell and locks up about as tight as a drunk freshman sorority pledge.

But it's fun as hell to shoot.

I don't want to have exposed springs. I might have to call them or have a gunsmith do it. I want this right

Either make it fit or send it back

You likely need to dremel out some relief in the stock.  I had to do the same thing for a medalist stock on a Savage 116.  Just removed a little material where it was making contact.

The tang on a Savage stock is not supposed to make contact. Is it fitting well otherwise?

Honestly, it may be just fine. One of the first thing the Savageshooters crew asks when accuracy issues come up is if the tang is free floated.

After some sanding I was able to get the tang to seat were it should. Free floating is fine, but a large gap where trigger springs are exposed is too much of gap

Glad to hear it.
