I read an article that these are being used over in Iraq/Afghanistan.  Can anyone confirm this?  and if so what kind of results are you having compared to the .50?

A 408 is a midsize cartridge using 419 grain bullet probably only for personnel and light vehicles.

The CheyTac Intervention is an American-made sniper rifle designed by CheyTac Associates, LLC. for long range soft target interdiction (ie, anti-personnel sniper). The CheyTac Intervention comes in five varieties: the CheyTac Intervention M-200, the M-200 Carbine, the M-200 CIV, the M-310 SS, and the M-310 R. CheyTac® Announces New M-200 CIV
Contact: Robin Sharpless 800-474-8551
For Immediate Release: February 1, 2006
Arco, Idaho: CheyTac® Associates, LLC announces their first version of the
world beating 408 CheyTac Intervention® M-200 Precision Rifle designed
specifically for Civilian Target Shooters. The M-200 CheyTac Rifle (Military) is
the holder of the world record, “Best Group At Any Range” as fired by snipers
from the USMC in the summer of 2004. Using 408 CheyTac ammunition in the
419gr, bullet weight, the 3 shot group measured 16-5/8 inches at a measured
range of 2,321 yards.
Until now, the CheyTac Intervention M-200 was restricted to Military and Law
Enforcement sales only due to its impressive capabilities and a desire by the
CheyTac ownership to maintain every advantage with our Operators in the field.
Now, CheyTac engineers have developed a mildly de-rated version of the M-200
named the CIV ( Civilian Intervention Version) to offer the long range competitor
the outstanding capability of the M-200 while limiting its effective range to
significantly less than that of the current Military versions.
CheyTac believes that in these times all responsible companies should first
consider the American and allied troops in the field when offering long range
precision rifle systems to the public at large.
The CheyTac M-200 CIV, bolt action, precision rifle is offered only in the 408
CheyTac caliber with a 26” barrel and a five round detachable box magazine. It
is produced to a MIL SPEC with same corrosion inhibiting finishes used on the
military version. CheyTac M-200 CIV uses a detachable, retractable stock and
features a fully free floated barrel with and integral tactical bipod. Moreover the
CheyTac M-200 CIV fully integrates with the CheyTac Civilian Advanced Ballistic
Computer for first shot “in the black” accuracy at extremely long distances.

One 3-shot group has about zero statistical significance.

I heard the same thing, Streetfighter. Apparently the "balanced flight" theory wasn't holding up in practice.

FWIW, the .50 BMG is not known for stellar accuracy either. FWIU, the .50 is a 2 MOA cartridge.

First time I read that I thought you said faster than light round.  I did a double take.
