Just bought 900 rounds of WInchester 115gr 9mm FMJ at Walmart for 22 cents per round. 9 boxes of the 100rd Value Pack. Priced at $24.47 per box, less my discount got me to right around 22 cents per round.
One of the Asst Managers got the 10th box. ETA: added caliber. ETA: The ammo had been on the shelf since 7am and my wife's store will not hold or 'understock' firearms or ammo, so I had the same chance at the ammo as the next guy. The Asst Mgr was not on the clock when he bought the last box. |

It is 9mm ammo.

My Walmart has, and has always had, virtually all ammo in stock. 9mm, .223, .45, 7.62x39 all in stock in basically all brands that they carry. This wasn't the case after the '08 election. I almost picked up a 250rd box of UMC 9mm last night, but decided against it. They don't carry AR's, but they have all firearms in stock as well. The most "evil" thing they carry is a couple of 18" tactical type shotguns and those have been in stock the whole time.

I'm sure glad that I planned ahead and don't need anything for a very, very, long time, otherwise, I'd have to compete with the desperate hogs for the slop. I've been around the ammo cases quite a few times when Porky Pig cleaned out the new stock. It's hilarious when Porky looks back and sees the looks on the other customer's faces when they realize that he's not leaving anything for them. It's that look like, "I ain't doin' nutin' here. Snort... grunt".
Bragging on the internet about gorging themselves at the slop trough is just the icing on their cake. |
|
My Wally World has nothing on the shelf, AND they have a 2 box limit. (The sign on that is clear - they're trying to spread out what they do get in)
|
|
My Wal-Mart today had one box of .32, and lots of boxes of .270, .30-06, 12-gauge birdshot -- and that was it.

When I see a good price in ammo, especially ammo that is in short supply, I buy it. The 900rds are a nice addition to my ammo fort, of which there is a significant amount of 9mm already. |

You're sorry that I'm amused? You're trying to rationalize your actions to someone who feels that your type is a cheap form of entertainment. I don't begrudge you for your actions. Edit: "Ammo fort". The supplies lines are still flowing. I've got 800 Rounds of the same 9 mm a few weeks ago. Went in the other day and there were 15 boxes on the shelves.
Pretty soon this mania will pass and we will return to the "hit or miss days" of last year - not the come in at 7 AM to see what the truck has brought. |

Lots of grumbling from my friends who didn't plan ahead, because now they have to plink with their carry caliber, which is far more expensive. It's not like they weren't warned. |
