Can you use an M80 as the warhead? That would be cool. Actually, I've taken a remote control unit back 20 years ago to the lake and just stood there moving around like I was controlling something and people would ask where my r/c boat was. I'd tell them I had an r/c submarine and continue as I was. They would ask how I knew where it was. I'd point and tell them that it's in the lake somewhere.... I don't know where it's at. <shrug> I guess I can't do that anymore.... |

DAMN! That is some intricate shit - imagine the patience required just to make that friggin torpedo. There is a club down here that does that with battleships. The sides of the ship are balsa, and the ships have BB guns mounted to them.
As I recall, they get "points" with which to equip the boat - they can choose more armament, or more bilge pumps. It's a tradeoff between offensive and defensive capabilities. Sounds like terrific fun to have a pond full of these things battling it out. |

I would have loved to have seen that  On a related note, as a teenager I used to shoot Estes model rockets off of my R/C helicopter. I used 1" PVC mounted to the skids as the launch tubes. This particular heli carried four launch tubes at one point using modified skids:  They weren't especially accurate, but they were fun as hell

if your more interested go to subcommittee.com . i used to be a member.
if you go a few pages ahead on the linky at the top you will see periscopes that work, ie video cameras. i was half of H and S periscopes. we did it scale looking with fiber optics. i also did a run of 9 foot long fiberglass akula hulls for a guy. fun hobbie but if you dont want to stick with a kit ( 600 ) and want to go a little further it can easily cost 2 k for a real nice boat. the periscope that we sold was 1500 with camera and tx. |
