There was an awful lot of work and expense to make an AR15 look just like a M16. He's basically asking an extra $1500 for the forgery work. I'd rather have a regular Colt AR15, an ACOG and 4000 rounds of ammo for $2300.

From The Ad:

Link

THIS IS A SEMI-AUTO RIFLE THAT HAS BEEN MANUFACTURED BY JOHN NORRELL. ALSO AN EXTREMELY RARE GUN, NORRELL STOPPED DOING THESE YEARS AGO.

ALL PARTS ON THIS RIFLE ARE COLT, TO INCLUDE MODEL 01 TRIGGER PINS.

THE SEAR PIN IS FAKE; IT DOES NOT GO THROUGH THE RECEIVER WALLS (LESS THAN 1/16"), IS SLIGHTLY OFFSET, AND IS LARGER IN DIAMETER THAN A REAL SELECT-FIRE PIN.
IT HAS ALL COLT SEMI AUTO PARTS, INCLUDING A MODIFIED AR-15 SEMI SELECTOR WITH 3 POSITIONS. IT WAS MANUFACTURED USING A SEMI RECEIVER THAT HAD A MACHINEGUN MAGWELL SIDEPLATE WELDED IN PLACE THAT SAYS " COLT AR-15, PROPERTY OF US GOV'T, M16A1".
ALL PARTS ARE LIKE NEW, GUN IS IN 99% CONDITION,
BOTH UPPER AND LOWER RECEIVERS HAVE BEEN RE-ANODIZED BY DPMS, AND COMES WITH A NEW SLING AND ONE NEW 30 RD. MAG .

THIS GUN IS CAPABLE OF ACCEPTING A DROP-IN AUTO SEAR, AND WOULD MAKE AN ""EXCELLENT SEAR HOST GUN.""

$2,300. + S/H

EMAIL FOR MORE PICS.

THANKS

For all that effort you would have thought he'd at least use an A1 type lower and not an A2 with reinforcements.
Link Posted: 12/14/2005 3:22:19 AM EDT
Getting pulled over with that in the back seat would likely cause some problems.
Link Posted: 12/14/2005 3:23:49 AM EDT
that thar be an A2 lower.

If the rollmark matched the receiver style, it would be cool. Not $2300 cool, but cool nonetheless.

As it is now, it just looks.....stupid.
Link Posted: 12/14/2005 3:25:59 AM EDT
i think it still looks pretty cool but as said above not $2300 cool...
Link Posted: 12/14/2005 3:27:22 AM EDT
what's interesting about it is that it is offered by LARRYG.

He seems to be a sqaured away guy - with respect to firearms, and this seems to be such a.....uhh....(don't know what to call it)

I cannot figure out whether its an all time "poser special", or a genuine oddity that warrants the $2,000+ tag.

Link Posted: 12/14/2005 3:29:43 AM EDT
I don't think that's our LARRYG.
Link Posted: 12/14/2005 3:38:02 AM EDT
Um, isnt that altering the model number (and possibly the serial number?) of the firearm? Isnt that illegal?

And +1 on "looking for trouble if you get pulled over".

Why on God's Green Earth would someone go thru all that effort and expense for a fake?

Sure they do.

The pin is only cosmetic, but it's in a no-shelf lower.

Seriously, though, wasn't LARRYG36 one of the Nevada guys who, IIRC, violated the AWB and ended up in jail?

You have a partial pin, imbedded in the side of the reciever, that is oversized and off center.

Now, try to drill a real hole for a real sear in the correct location and what do you have? A mess.

DIAS requires no holes to be drilled. It's held in place by the rear push-pin stud.

Okay, thanks.

Still, fudge packing ghay poseur time
Link Posted: 12/14/2005 4:59:50 AM EDT
I could probably fool a couple friends.

Would that be worth $2300?

I don't think so.
Link Posted: 12/14/2005 5:05:00 AM EDT
What's the point?

Link Posted: 12/14/2005 5:08:46 AM EDT
How pointless. If you can afford $2300 for a stupid fake, why not add some more cash to the pile and get a real one?

It's an Instant Legal Nightmare In A Box(TM). The cop won't believe you when you say it's not a machine gun, and you'll be off to jail. And you better hope they don't screw with it to get it to double-tap at their test range, because then you'll be off the Federal-Pound-Me-In-The-Ass-Prison for quite a little while.
Link Posted: 12/14/2005 5:09:40 AM EDT
That's pure genius. A gun marked "auto", with a fake SEAR pin and fake engraving. He's just begging to get arrested and have his dog shot.

Heck, a good engraver could have put the "full" on the lower for much less than $2300. But who wants the trouble?
Link Posted: 12/14/2005 5:33:07 AM EDT
That's quite possibly the dumbest thing I've ever seen. I'd hate to get pulled over with that in the car.

Actually, other than the serial number, it's not illegal (for Title 1 firearms, at least).

The real scary thing is that, someone with buy it.
Link Posted: 12/14/2005 6:17:18 AM EDT
It would make a great host for an RDIAS.

BUT, the point of an RDIAS is to be able to use cheap hosts, which this is not.

I have to give him credit, though, the lower (even though it is an A2) is marked exactly like a government issued Vietnam era M16.

No that is Larry G36, "Todd Buddy" extroidinaire.

Anything made by Special Weapons is "awesome" and gonna "sell like hotcakes."

He also suffers from ALL CAPS SYNDROME, probably got it from Toad.

Didn't he get charged with NFA violations or selling without a license?

useless and therefore gay, not to mention an eye catcher for an uneducated leo if you get pulled over. i'll pass.

I agree 100% on the "eye catcher". Nothing I want to be a part of.

Having spent over an hour handcuffed and face down on the side of IH35 in Austin the same weekend that GHWB was doing the commencement ceremony over some EBRs, I would really not want to drive around with that thing.
I do think the owner should up the Liberaceocity of that thing and get it "professionally polished" for 24 hours so that it just goes "BLING." That's the only way that it could get any gheyer.
