My 1995 Grand Cherokee is finally being put out to pasture
I'm looking for floor mats for the new car. I'd like something that offers good protection and looks nice and ain't so pricey. Am I asking too much? |

I think Husky makes one that is cheaper.
I went with Weathertech. |
|
Cabela's sells a rebranded Weathertech that sometimes goes on sale.
|
|
I have the husky xact contours in my wife's 2014 grand Cherokee. I really like them, they're a softer rubbervinstead of the hard plastic that is typicalhttps://www.huskyliners.com/X-act-Contour-Floor-Mats
|

The good Husky line is the Weatherbeaters.
Another brand is Aries 3D floor mats. It is a different material and sometimes goes under different names like "spider" or something or other. But I've been satisfied with them. I have the Aries in the front, and Weathertech in the back. What dictated which mats were purchased for where was coverage (ie. under seats, over rocker panels, etc.) |

Hmmmm, one thumbs up for weather tech and nothing else....
Ouch, I'm getting a pain in my wallet. Edit: I type slow on a Kindle, those popped up while I was typing this. Thanks for the leads. I'll check them out. |

Buy once, cry once.
Ever price decent factory floormats? After you do, Weathertechs won't seem so expensive. I have them in all my vehicles. [Hint, they make great Christmas gifts when someone asks you what you want because it's something you will actually use all the time.] |

There was a thread on this awhile back, maybe a year or so ago.
If you search you'll find it Search Weathertech. I believe it was in GD |

Edit- Have weathertechs in both vehicles and they are awesome. yah I dunno about paying for quality its just molded plastic, I have Max-liners in my Tacoma and they do the job they were designed to do and they were cheaper than both husky and weathertech. They fit pretty well, don't move move around aren't slippery as shit & keep crap off the carpet. Which is what I assumed they should do. I find it mildly humorous that WeatherTech has managed to garner such a following for hunks of plastic. |

I've got Husky in the front of my truck and Weathertech in the back. The Husky seem to be better quality and fit.
|
|
Factory optional ones for the wifes explorer didn't cost much and are a great fit.
|
|
I was iffy due to the cost... an hour after they arrived I was confident I made the right choice with the weathertecs.
Next car will have them day one as well. |

If you go to the Town & Country forums, they demonstrate Husky better than WT for the way they fit around all the cutouts and stow and go seat attachments.
I bought WT for my Patriot. The drivers one kept sliding forward like it wasnt designed very well. My Cherokee got factory slush mats, and they fit great. WT is a lot of hype that doesnt always come through. Study and read up to find out whats best for your make and model. |
|
Become friends with someone who buys used cars at a dealership.
Free and unlimited rubber floor mats. |
|
Can't remember the brand we finally went with, but it was a few dollars more than WT.
It's cheap protection considering the cost of a new vehicle. |

I have Husky in my car, they cover the dead pedal while the Weathertech did not. This isn't true for all cars, but many it is. Something to keep in mind. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

I like my Husky liners way better than the Weathertechs. They're more...rubbery...I guess and aren't so rigid.
Edit for the above...mine cover the ENTIRE floor, including the dead pedal. The fit is better since they aren't so rigid. |

Weathertech. And not only because they are made in the US.
I bought them for a Mazda Protege. They lasted 9 years. At the point, The floor mat on the driver and passenger side were degrading. There cracks developing aling the length of the channels. The rear floor mats had less wear and were in better condition. I ended up selling the car which was on its last legs. I always get them for any car I buy. I have the molded flat ones now instead of the thick rubber ones. |

I don't know which is better but I purchased the rain guards.
One day driving with windows down the rear two (crew cab truck) flew in the windows. I emailed weathertech and they responded almost imediately. I asked for some more tape and two more of the steel clips (to secure both sides of the guard) No questions asked, actually asked if I wanted replacements I declined and the parts showed up within a couple of days. Great customer service if that helps. |

Used weathertechs?
I got a like new set for my Tacoma for $40 off craigslist |
|
Another vote for reading reviews specific to your vehicle. I have them in both an F150 and an Exploder and the Exploder they fit like a glove but the F150 is pretty much just OK compared to the stock mats I had for years.

Timely thread for me. I am looking for liners....not mats...for my 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. Weather tech is around $108. One brand...maybe Husky...does not cover my vehicle.
I will look at the others. |
|

Well, Thank you all for the input. I went with Husky. I found them for $221.00
for front, rear and cargo area. https://www.realtruck.com You can get 40% off the cargo mat if ordering the full set of floor mats. Free shipping too. |

Why do cars come with carpets that you have to cover with a floor mat? Wouldn't it make more sense if the cars came with rubber/ plastic flooring and then you could purchase some nice carpet mats? Seems bassackwards to me. Planned obsolescence for the sheeple I guess.

Spend a little extra, get great quality and support the economy of your country

I am coming up empty for a front floor liner for my 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
Only Weathertech and a Cabelas brand made by Weathertech. I am seeing two different styles. One has the drivers side liner on the left side only going up and ending. Other pictures show the liner folded and lying on top of the door sill. I prefer the second option but I can't tell from pictures which style is produced now. If no one knows I will just have to call Weathertech. |

I bought a new Jeep this April, and figured why not spend a few bucks more on the best? The Weathertech liners in the front are fine, the Weathertech liners in the back are almost, but not quite as good as the ones you can get at a flea market for $5. They sort of fit well, but after about ten minutes the sides started warping, they started moving around, and end up spending more time under the front seats than protecting the carpet. They are a shit design, and I paid a premium price for it. I still have the Weathertech liners in the front, but Husky in the back, and the Weathertech are in the shed. We bought my wife a Focus a couple of months later, put Husky in it, and they have been perfect, we also had them in our Fusion, and also perfect, fit and durability 100% as good as Weathertech. |

When a trade comes in with the high end mats they somehow get swapped out for the cheapies before they hit our used lot. Everybody in the dealership has the high end shit in their personal vehicles. LOL |

Honestly... i bought some weather techs for the new f350... not impressed. Theyre good! But for the price id expect them to be better. They dont fit perfect like they show in the pictures... the plastic rubber is TOO stiff so it wont lay flat against the carpet... i wouldnt buy them again...
lol i dont have a reccomendation but giving my input... |

Isn't it somewhat ironic that in this day and age our vehicles are so refined and come furnished from the factory with really nice upholstery?
Years ago a plain vinyl rubber floor is what you got in a base model vehicle. You'd typically see these in work trucks and you'd simply hose it out every now and then. You would pay a premium for the nicer carpet interior. Nowadays, we pay for the nicer carpet and upholstery, then immediately pay another steep premium for Weathertech, or other "rubber floor mats" to ensure we never use our nice premium interiors. |
